UA X HELLA GRIP | PRIMO PROMO

Georgie Louis, Kenny Yap, Jake Sorenson are all featured in this video promoting the release of the complete UrbanArtt x Hella Grip collab scooter.  They shot this over a couple weeks in California.  Dope shredding by everyone.  Kenny Yap sends it with that last trick, making it look like not a big deal at all.

Addict | Woodward Camp

Jake Hershey is the scooter director at Woodward Camp in Pennsylvania, and put this video together when Addict riders Matt McKeen and Logan Fuller came down to ride.  I don't know why but McKeen's uprail to transfer into the quarter was so cool.  So was Logan's up flat double peg to downside out.  The place looks toooo fun.

X-Games to Feature Call Of Duty Competition

Confirming what everyone already knew about the X-Games, it was announced that today via ESPN's X-Games Website that a Call of Duty tournament has been added to the events of this year's games in Austin.  It is now official that X-Games has lost everything it based on, what it was supposed to be about.  Videogames are cool and all, but is there really anything "eXtreme" about sitting on a couch staring at a screen?  And what's next?  Best trick shots competitions?

This is a slap in the face to every real action sport already in the X-Games, and the ones that have been taken out or never let in (which is us.)  Read on for the full press release-

 To capitalize on a rapidly growing competitive league right in the heart of its demographic, X Games, together with Major League Gaming, announced Monday that there will be a "Call of Duty" tournament as part of X Games Austin in June.

The "MLG Call of Duty: Ghosts" tournament will feature the top five "Call of Duty" teams based on MLG Pro Points plus the top three teams from the "Call of Duty" championship held in Winter Park, Fla., last month. The eight teams will compete in a double-elimination group format, with four teams advancing to a single-elimination bracket. X Games medals will be awarded to the winning teams.

"It's going to be [MLG] bringing our high-level production into a really full weekend," MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni said. "We're looking to build something here that hopefully becomes a tradition at both the summer and the winter X Games over time."

MLG is one of several professional video game leagues worldwide and the largest in North America, hosting tournaments in such games as "League of Legends," "Call of Duty" and "Starcraft" and sports games like "NBA 2K14." Teams of gamers make up MLG rosters and will compete in online preliminary tournaments broadcast on MLG.tv. Then major tournaments are held in venues like the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California, where thousands have watched tournaments in-person.

"We are for the first time in a position where we have the league structure, the broadcast piece, the direct access to media and brands who are interested in advertising and marketing to this audience, and it's built in such a way where there's this tremendous scale in front of us," DiGiovanni said.

No stranger to ESPN -- he was the video gaming expert on "Cold Pizza" -- DiGiovanni said the partnership with X Games was an extension of a longtime relationship he has had with the network.

The partnership with X Games was about a year in the making, according to Tim Reed, senior director of content strategy for the X Games. X Games Austin expands this year into a three-day festival with top-tier musical acts and events surrounding the competition.

"As X Games looks to grow and launch into the festival event we're producing, this is great added content to the overall plan," Reed said. "I'm definitely excited to see how it translates [to X Games]."

Joe "Merk" Deluca, a member of Team EnVyUs, will be at X Games Austin because his team finished second in last month's COD championship. He said the partnership between MLG and X Games makes a lot of sense. Deluca played in front of as many as 20,000 people over the course of a weekend at the MLG Championships in Anaheim last year, but he says the ability to compete for an X Games medal is what sets this MLG competition apart from the rest.

"I want to win an X Games medal," Deluca said. "That would be a dream in itself."

Bringing gaming to the X Games was a good match because people interested in professional gaming are likely to be fans of the X Games and other action sports, Reed said. Couple that with the surging popularity of the new genre of e-sports and X Games has what it hopes will be a popular attraction inside the festival grounds at the Circuit of the Americas.

"It made sense from X Games' perspective," Reed said. "The audiences are similar: youth, fun to play with, and they like music, sports and gaming. So it all kind of lines up with [the X Games] audience."

A three-day ticket to X Games Austin will cost $89 and allow holders access to the MLG tent and other attractions at the festival. There also will be an upgraded ticket option for reserved seating inside the MLG tent, a gift bag and other perks. Ticket information can be found here.

The "Call of Duty" franchise is one of the best-selling series in gaming history, but first-person shooters like COD feature realistic violence. "Call of Duty" games can't be bought by anyone under 17, and ESRB rules will be followed at X Games. No one under 17 can enter the tent at X Games without a parent or guardian.
"The subject matter is mature and it's not something that is going to be right for everybody, but there's a huge section of the audience that plays these games," DiGiovanni said. "You'll see when these games are released -- one of the main places they are advertised is on the ESPN networks."

New York-based MLG claims better than a 1,500 percent growth in online video consumption over the past four years and 600 percent growth in total audience over the past three. Much of the interest in e-sports comes from South Korea, Japan and China, but video game tournaments and leagues are rapidly growing in the American market.

There is also money to be made by the competitors. Some of the top professional video gamers can earn over six figures, and many have become celebrities within the gaming community. Having a league that can provide a living wage for many of its professionals was one of the early goals of MLG. Now that it has achieved sustainability, the league is looking to grow in areas where its audience already is, like the X Games.

If the Austin event is successful, MLG and X Games may look to expand their relationship, possibly making on-site gaming a regular attraction at X Games.

"Ideally, we get the [X Games] brand to travel in the gaming space and drive some engagement with an X Games audience," Reed said. "If the tent is full and people are enjoying it, then it's a success."

Elyts Barcelona 2014

Wow.  You all know Barcelona for what it is- a street mecca, the best place in the world to do any action sport- scooter, bike, skate, anything.  Take some of the world's most talented riders there, and it's not a question of if they'll get any sick clips, it's a question of how many spots they can crush before they have to leave.  The full lineup includes Luke Painter (Don't miss his switch stuff!), Elliott Arnold, Georg Gartlehner, Cory Vanlew, BenJ, Lambert Judith, Enzo Commeau, Johan Walzel and Remi Bouchard, as well as a few clips from filmer/skater Rudy Garcia.  Rudy and Roots Boy both killed it filming and editing this too.

Jon Reyes Phoenix Scooter Check

A little/brief scooter check from Jon Reyes (He gets waaay more in depth at the end) followed up by some clips of him riding Woodward East. Anything from Jon is always a treat, one of the nicest dudes I know, on and off a scooter, and possibly the most talented when it comes to the flat/tech game. Good stuff.

Kiara Meade Lucky Scooters 2014

Kiara has been around for a while now, and has established herself not only as one of the top female riders, but an overall talented rider in general. Back in the day people were shocked at how she could boost the TIC boxes with ease, I know I was. I was loving the handplant barspin in this edit, and the heel to bar to whip over the box. Good job Kiara.

Afternoon Stackin With Ryan Mitchell

Here's a little day edit from Ryan Mitchell for QCS.  Solid tricks, back lip across and down on the hubba to whip was dope.  That park also looks super fun.

Vincent Kudrna Spring Break 2014

Where to start.. Vincent to me is one of those riders, that sort of gets overshadowed by the other park/combo riders. So Vincent decided to take all of his ridiculous park tricks, and throw em down in the streets. This edit was really fun to watch, Vincent kept it clean, while throwing ridiculous combos...Quad whip bump to rail stuck out, and damn.. that ender. Good job Vincent.

Phoenix Pro Scooters: Pol Aceña

For being a pro rider for Phoenix, Pol is pretty underrated.  He kills it on the mini, as shown in this video.  Wallplant to manual 360 in was so dope.  Last few tricks as well were some mind-bogglers.  I'm definitely wanting to get some runs in after watching this!

Brian Chavez

Sometimes you come across a rider when they're still really young, and you just know that they have "it".  Brian is one of those riders.  I think I met him first in the summer of 2011 at the old Lake Geneva skatepark (the old black ramps park from Transit 1).  He was just a real small kid, but I could tell he had the ability to go places. This video shows where he's at today, with the new super good LG park.  One thing about this guy is he's always riding super bad parts and torn up shoes.  The boy needs a hookup.

Tyler Bonner Rev2Deck Promo

Just another one of those videos that you wish kept going, but unfortunately ends at the 3:00 mark. Tyler had a bit of a slow start after his knee injury, but it is safe to say he is back and he's hitting it harder than ever. He killed it in all of the ELYTS El Paso edits, and now he slays even more rails and ledges in his Reventon V2 Promo. Check it.

Blunt/Envy South Africa Tour Ep.1 - 4

Lately I was sitting around thinking about how many riders have been taken to places that they probably would have never gone before without scootering. These edits below document that pretty well I think. Blunt/Envy recently flew out their riders to South Africa in the hopes of filming a full length edit, and I'm guessing it was a success. The below edits are really cool to watch, they're not jam packed with riding, but you get to know the Team a bit more. And it really does show how far this sport can take you. Can't wait for the full length to drop. For now peep these.

ELYTS EL PASO LAST DAY

The ender day for the Elyts boys in El Paso.  Lots of crazy stuff in here.  All Jesse's tooth combos off that box were so sick.  Tyler's gap to lip on that super tall rail (and gnarly rack on the handrail).  I think it's safe to say Jessee and Tyler killed this one.

Megaramp Session with Luke Burland and Ryan Williams

There is a reason that Ryan Williams, and now I believe Luke Burland as well, are a part of the Nitro Circus show, because they kill the mega ramp. Very few riders, despite talking a lot of shit, can actually really go out and hit the mega ramp, and throw down. R Willy has proven time and time again that no one comes close to his skill on the Mega, and I am stoked to see what Luke brings to the Nitro Circus shows which I believe start up soon.

Scooter Zone TIC Ride Day

I know there are plenty of riders that will be showing up for this tomorrow, but for those who don't know check out the flyer below. I think it is pretty awesome that Scooter Zone actually has one of their stores located inside TIC Skatepark. But yeah, if you're a park rat, get out there and have a good time with a ton of homies from SZ. And check out the sale they have going on in store as well!

Lucky Scooters | Jared Jacobs Welcome to Title

So Yung Jared here was on Lucky's Am team, and now he has been bumped up to Title (perhaps to fill the spot left by Kenny Griffin?).  I'm not sure what that distinction is, but either way he is a shredder.  He's got a rad style that will really be good to watch in a few years.  Damion Black on the film/edit.

Percept Eyewear || 2BCN N BACK

Percept released this video today summarizing the trip to Barcelona for the Haske jam as well as Andorra for some snowboarding.  This video encapsulates what the experience was like for Percept owner Ryan Upchurch during his time overseas.  Percept's slogan is "Dream Your Reality" and they definitely give a good example of what that looks like with this video.
