Tyler Wheeland | TILT VIDEO TRAILER (And Premiere Venue Announced)

Lol Tyler doesn't actually scooter so the teaser is of him being weird instead.  I'm actually a little surprised there's no motorcycle clips in there.  Must be saving those for his part.  If you would like to find out if he does scooter (spoiler alert: he does), feel free to attend the Tilt Video premiere at Ken Cinema, 4061 Adams Avenue, San Diego, on January 4th, 2014 (after SD8).  Doors open at 8.  Here's the official announcement:

Throwback Thursday: Tyler Wheeland, While I have it

Tyler Wheeland might not be regarded by most as one of the top riders in the sport, but he is full of talent. Yeah you see him in the streets now a days, more than often riding on walls, as opposed to the ground. But he can still shred parks up with no problem. This edit was filmed when Tyler was 17, by his buddy Stephen Diaz, who did a hell of a job. It's one of my favorite edits not because of the riding, but because of what the video stands for. Check it out.

The Vault Pro Scooters: The Importance of Pads + How to Wallride with Tyler Wheeland

TWhee works at The Vault, which is a super legit shop killing it down in the So Cal area. They recently started putting videos out of tutorials, reviews, and other good stuff. In the videos below Tyler Wheeland breaks down why you kiddos need to start padding up. Following that video he gives you a full breakdown on Wallrides. Fitting given that Tyler Wheeland spends about as much time riding walls as he does flat ground.

HSHB Tyler Wheeland RAW

Next up in Hella Grip's raw footage compilations is Tyler Wheeland.  Not a ton of footage but the clips he did get were tight.  The over 5050 thing is so crazy.

Hella Grip Friday Foster Freeze

Tyler Wheeland put in work with this sick hop over 50-50 to front 180 out, and fellow HG Homie Ralph McMoran was there to get to the shot. Check it out.

Also we have another promo for Hella Stoked and Hella Broke. George Justiniano is a pretty low key rider, but don't let that fool you. He can shred hard at will. Be sure to catch him and the other Hella Grip Homies on Dec 25th, in Hella Stoked and Hella Broke.

Tilt Presents: Tyler Wheeland's Signature Nimbus Fork

Tyler's fork is out now and so is his video to promote it.  Both the fork and video turned out great, one of my favorite videos this year for sure.  To find out more I did a little interview with him, check it out:

Jordan Jasa:  So you're finally releasing your video and dropping a signature Tilt fork, how are you feeling about that?

Tyler Wheeland:  I'm so stoked man, I can't believe it.

What can you tell us about the fork?

It's basically a sleeker and cooler looking Legacy fork. Collin and I were talking about a fork for a while but I didn't think it would actually happen this quick.

Cool cool.  So you've been working on an HD video promo as well, can you tell us about that?

My homie Dojo moved to LA and we would hang out a lot then one day I just asked if he was down to film a short video and then we had no use for he footage so we kept stacking until we had some use for it and it lined up perfectly with the fork idea so we got it done. The set up is great we have generators and lights so it's a bunch of night footage.

I've seen a few of your clips being filmed and it's definitely super legit.  This will be one of the first HD street videos done "right" (in my opinion).  What are your thoughts on filming HD vs SD?  Any preference over the other?

I'm cool with whatever as long as its filmed well. I'm filming SD for the Tilt DVD right now and it's going pretty well. I hate handheld dslr and I think HD is hardly ever done right. When it's done right it looks cool though.

For sure.  Speaking of that, whats up with the DVD?  Any planned release date?

I've got no idea. Tentatively fall 2013 is what I heard. We have a trip coming up with the whole team that's gonna be good.

Word.  So your fork is named the Nimbus and your name is written on it in the Harry Potter font, so I should probably ask you a HP related question.  Which of the 7 is your favorite book, and why?

Everything always comes back to this. Book wise number 5 Order of the Phoenix is my favorite because the students take over and kill it so hard.

Good answer.  Well I think that about wraps it up unless there's anything else you wanna say?

Support the real and get dirty in the streets. Take to many pictures and make great memories.

Awesome.  Thanks Tyler, and congrats on the fork.

Tyler Wheeland Signature Tilt Nimbus Fork Release

Ya boy Twheezy is droppin a new video on the 16th, but more importantly, his new signature fork will be available to buy then too.  Be one of the first to buy so you can get one of 250 individually labeled forks.  His video is filmed in HD by some filmer nicknamed "Dojo" so obviously it'll be good.

Throwback Thursday: 951 Epic Weekend Video 2

Definitely a Throwback Thursday, and we're going back to 2009. This is a video I used to watch all the time, it just has a really good feel to it. It features the best riders in So Cal back then, and most of them are still some of the best in So Cal now. Riders like Tyler Wheeland before he was a T Whee. Monky when he did lookbacks and boosted quarters. Also featured are So Cal pioneers, Nick Darger, Chris Gascoigne, Kody McQueen, Raymond Warner, and a lot more. It's just a good solid old edit, back when Pro Models were whats up.

California Photo Blog pt 1

So Tommy Daddono and I flew out to California this week to stay with Tyler Wheeland.  The week started out with Tyler and Stefan Hefner picking us up from the airport and riding downtown LA at 1 am.  This photo was taken the next day, when we went to Vista to ride with Andrew Broussard, Josh Young, Jon Reyes, and Tyler Bonner.  Vista is so good to ride, pretty much everyone rode and got clips.

We were on our way to a ditch spot when Jon and Tyler pulled off the road to check out this rail spot.  It took a few tries for him to pull this double peg, but he slid pretty much the whole thing, and tricked out.  You can check the footy in the upcoming Elyts DVD.

On Monday we went to this gap over a rail.  Erik Feenstra trucked and 180 whipped over it in his Socal Stuff video.  So while the bar was set pretty high, Tommy was able to get a cool clip and picture before we got the kick.  Twhee with the photo cred here.
This is another spot from Feenstra’s socal video.  In that he double peg to back lipped it.  Tommy rides no pegs so he opted for the hurricane.  The rail was already taped up in a few spots, its gonna need a massage after being shredded by scooter riders.  Tyler again with the photo.
This photo was taken at this banks/ditch spot in Laguna Beach.  Pretty much everything about the spot is really gnarly.  I got worked trying to get a line here but ended up sticking this half cab heel into it.  Tommy also filmed a clip, and Tyler again shot the photo.  This is also the best spot if you’re trying to go fast and powerslide your wheels away.

On the way home from the Laguna banks Tyler remembered this pole jam and we stopped at it.  The pole is definitely taller than it looks in this picture but that didn’t seem to be a problem for Tyler.  Tommy also blasted the sickest footplant fingerwhip off it but you’ll have to wait to see that footy..

This is just part one of the trip blog.  Tommy unfortunately left tonight but I am still here till Friday night, and we have pictures from Tuesday and Wednesday.   For the record, Tyler is filming for a full length with Stefan, and Tommy and I are also filming for our own.  More on those projects in the future.

Tilt Scooters Presents: Tyler Wheeland

Tyler surprises me everytime he gets on a scooter. He's really come full circle as a rider, in the past three years. His wallrides are easily some of the best in the sport, if not the best, and you couldn't come close to his passion for Harry Potter. He's one of my closest friends I've made in the sport, and seeing him throwdown harder than he ever has in this edit below, really gets me stoked. Get ready to rape the replay button with this one.

Calling it now. Without a doubt one of my top three favorite videos of 2012.

THE CLIFF IS HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!%!!!!!1!!!!!!!

Tyler Wheeland and Josh Young Tilt Throwaway

Tyler Wheeland recently released this throwaway edit, which in my opinion has some stuff that I wouldn't consider throwaway. Tyler has come full circle as a rider, something a lot of riders don't do. Started at the bottom, and has worked hard to get to where he is today. I really like this edit.... yes 80% of that is due to the song.

Next up is Josh Young. Another rider who started from very humble beginnings. Wasn't very well known, and progressed pretty slowly early on. That changed quickly and Josh started to really come into his own. His style got better and better, and his riding got really clean. Easily one of the funnest riders to watch now a days. Check out his throwaway below.

Stefan Hefner Interview by Tyler Wheeland

Stefan Hefner. The worst part is after reading that name, there are probably so many people who don't recognize it the way they should.
Stefan is a street beast, to say the least...I didn't mean for that to rhyme.. As noted in the interview he is very well known for the slams he takes while riding. Though they hardly phase him, if he has his mind set on landing a trick.. He's landing it one way or another. I really enjoyed this interview that Tyler Wheeland did for Inside-Scooters. Check it out below.

Tyler: Alright dude, whats up?

Stefan: wait are you actually asking me? or is this the interview?

Tyler: It is def happening.

Stefan: oh crap
haha
start over?

Tyler: Alright dude, Whats up?

Stefan: nothin much
just chillin at home in my boxers
and eating candy

Tyler:Oh the life. Double gulp aswell?

Stefan: I got a 2 liter of Pepsi and Mountain Dew in the fridge.
Im all set

Tyler:So are you aware that your mostly known for getting broke off and not actually killing it?

Stefan: ummm...
no not really
I thought I was known as a front scooter flip whore who occasionally dies riding his scooter
but whatever.

Tyler: That too, by now everybody knows you Scooterflipped Hollywood High 16 stair. Want to explain what happened that day?

Stefan: well before I was even very good at scootering, I always saw videos of skaters throwing themselves down the 16 tair
I knew that I wanted to be just as gnarly as them

so when I finally thought I had the skill level and the opportunity to hit the 16 stair for myself
I jumped at the chance
I knew I had to throw something sick down it so I thought a front scooter flip would be best since I'm pretty comfortable with them
When I was running up to the stairset I was pretty damn scared
and on one of the run ups a family got out of their car to watch because they knew that shit was about to go down
one of the people that was watching was this really hot blonde girl
so I figure, hell why not and I hucked the front scooter flip that try
I got it first try and rolled away super clean and fast
I was so stoked
but after a minute I couldn't even walk because the sheer impact destroyed my ankle
but yeah
thats it

Tyler: You still got that first try, thats insane. Did that blonde chick say anything to you afterwards or what?

Stefan: unfortunately no. She walked away before I could start gamin' on her

Tyler: I guess we can't have it all can we. So what about your obsession with animals on your shirts? Do you just love animals?

Stefan: Animals are amazing!
there are so many animals that have such a wide spectrum of reactions they cause when people see them
people can be scared of sharks

Tyler: Like Lil Jon?

Stefan: yeah
haha
but people can also be attracted to cute lil' kittens

Tyler: Kind of like Me with Spiders. They are the worst. But back to scooters dude.
You have a part dropping sometime in November/December as part of Luckys Opus web video. How do you feel about it so far.

Stefan: Well Ive been working my ass off for over a year working on it and have gotten quiet a bit of footage for it
I could probably finish it right now if I wanted
but to be honest, Im still unsatisfied with it

Tyler: Really?

Stefan: there is so much I have on my to-do list for the video
I really just want it to be something I can finish and then just sit back and watch and pat myself on the back for putting everything I had into one video

Tyler: I get you. You have traveled a lot for this part. Where do you feel like you worked the hardest and got the best clips?

Stefan: Ive been blessed enough with a great sponsor like Lucky that has helped me travel a lot in the making of this video.
Ive been to France, Chicago, and Washington which is probably where I got the most footage in the week I was there.
Not to mention how much Ive been all over the beautiful state of California where I live

Tyler: Are people going to be surprised when they see this new part compared to the last video you put out? How has your riding progressed or changed in the last year or so.

Stefan: Well my riding has changed a lot since my last video that I released about a year ago.
Ive definitely become more well-rounded as a whole, but Ive spent a lot of time riding rails.

I definitely think theyre the bees knees

Tyler: Filmed any rail clips that are gonna get people stoked?

Stefan: Maybe a couple, idk. I guess it depends on the person haha

Tyler: What about getting broke off, you put out that bails video and it had some pretty gnarly falls in it. Is that a normal thing for you?

Stefan: Well when I'm trying a trick that is out of my comfort zone it might be a common thing.
On the other hand though, if a trick is in my comfort zone, I usually get it. Over all, falling is just a part of getting better and pushing yourself to find your limits

Tyler: Wise words. What would be a perfect day for you?

Stefan:I don't think a perfect day really exists. There always seems to be something bad in everyday that can kind of spoil the mood. Most of my favorite moments in life though are just when I'm cruisin' down the streets of Los Angeles with the homies, riding spots, getting clips, and having a really big soda in my hand. Thats the life

Tyler: That sounds like what we do every weekend. Well this has been great dude, any last words?

Stefan: Thanks for interviewing me and above all, stay street...

Photos by: Jordan Jasa(Portrait), Monky(16 Set), and Erik Feenstra(Rail).

The below videos are OLD. Be advised that Stefan's section in the upcoming Lucky DVD will surely destroy you.

Want to see an amazing edit?

Stephen Diaz is one of the best fimers to take an interest in our sport. His first edit was of Tyler Wheeland with "While I Have It", if you guys don't remember that, click the link below.

While I Have It

Well Stephen isn't stopping there. He is back filming and making edits. Recently he got together with Tyler Wheeland, and Brandon Kilbury who is spending some time in California. The video is just amazing. Plenty of clips from Bk and TWhee, and a lot of the Santa Clarita locals. Check the video out below, and if YOU want to be in Stephen's next edit, keep checking Inside-Scooters. We will be posting details on the next location he will be filming at shortly.

Tyler "TWhee" Wheeland Interview

You can love him, you can hate him, or you can love to hate him, odds are it won't matter to Tyler Wheeland. He's one of the riders who started from the bottom, and has worked hard to get where he is today. One of my personal favorites, and close friends, so it was a real pleasure to get this interview done with Tyler before he takes off to France in under a week.

Steven: Twhee, hows it been going dude?

Tyler: Pretty good man, just got back from a trip to Arizona with Alex (Steadman). Filmed some gnarly clips of Lil Jon.

Steven: So awhile ago it was announced that you and LSP Team rider Stefan Hefner are going to France for the street jam, How did this happen?

Tyler: So JanDiv hit me up on facebook about LSP sponsoring the event and asked about Lucky possibly sending a few riders out there and they would cover us for a place to stay and stuff. I talked to Brian about it and it all kinda fell into place with Stefan and I being the ones sent out there. I do independent studies and Stefans pretty flexible so uhh yeah.

Steven: Being a known street rider, what does a trip to France to mean you?

Tyler: Its pretty insane. It kinda just proves that hard work pays off.

Steven: So I gotta ask dude, what is your exact set up right now? harhar... Just kidding dude. LSP Dvd 2, there seems to be a little bit of hype starting up, is there anything you can say about the upcoming dvd

Tyler: Well dude i am riding all neon pro ride parts with a K2 hang 5 deck. Madd gear shoes REPPING holla dog.

Steven: Figured bro. Figured.

Tyler: As far as the DVD goes, were just doing things right this time. Its not a project we are taking lightly and i've already filmed clips of some of the dudes that are next level. Everyone is progressing constantly and its just wild going out with the Lucky crew.

Steven: So it seems like you've been pushing yourself harder lately, hard 180 over a 9 rail first try...Do you got plans to continue pushing your limits with your street riding?

Tyler: Haha that was pretty wild because i don't normally do tricks first try but i guess it happens. I def. wanna push my limits for street riding. I feel like the rest of the Lucky team is way ahead of me so it pushes me to ride in a way that will stick out even if Im not as good as the rest of the team.

Steven: So you obviously ride with Stefan a lot, going to France with him, what do you think we can expect to see from him?

Tyler: The gnarliest. I dont know how big those guys know. But i know Stefan is insane. He scooter flipped Hollywood Highschool 16 stair first try. Stefan and I actually didn't get a long for a long time. Even when we were both on Lucky together i don't know why but i couldn't stand him then we kinda just grew into good friends.
Just for the record, Stefan can do way more than just Scooter flip down gnarly things, you'll see!

Steven: Haha ok ok, I'll take your word for it bro. Seems like the guys in France don't really know what they're in store for.

Tyler: I dunno, from what i have heard and seen they are years ahead of us.

Steven: Guess you'll find out in a week?

Tyler: No, i wont. Idiot. This should be called. "Good questions by Steven Tongon.

Steven: Wait is this going in the interview?

Tyler: Yes, next question.

Steven: Damn. So going to France is something that a lot of riders in all action sports dream of. You're going to be able to check that off your list of places to go. What other places are still on that list that you hope to make it out to someday?

Tyler: Barcelona, I've been dreaming about Skating there since i was like 8. I am going to San Fran next month and I've always wanted to bomb those hills so Im siked!

Steven: Barcelona, and San Francisco? Two more highly regarded street spots. With all this street, I gotta ask, do you even enjoy riding park anymore?

Tyler: Haha of course! Its still riding a scooter. I mean usually if I'm at the skatepark i just kick it and talk with people or whatever but park is awesome when its ridden right.

Steven: Haha for sure. So how about those flat seshes??!

Tyler: I can double whip sometimes... dick move Steven.

Steven: So, Tyler...July 15th coming up. Now what does that mean to you..(And most likely to me too)

Tyler: Oh you know... just waiting in line all day for the premiere of the last Harry Potter movie. I seriously can't wait!

Steven: I bet man. Do you think we got more closet Harry Potter fans in this sport than we currently know of?

Tyler: Oh dude forsure we do!

Steven: Haha..All right we better wrap this up man, before we get a bit too caught up in HP. Do you got any last words or shout outs before we shut this thing down?

Tyler: I hope i can Impact kids to start riding street and to film good videos. Say no to Neon!

"P.S. RIDE LUCKY."

Lucky Scooter Parts: Tyler Wheeland SMX Fork Giveaway

The Lucky Scooter Parts Team has been hard at work filming for the next Dvd. One of the riders who has been pushing himself a lot since joining LSP, is the So Cal local, Tyler Wheeland. TWheener has been taking his street riding to another level. During a filming session, these pictures were taken, by Shelby Grimnes, check em out below.

I personally can't wait to check out the new DVD, all new details on that will be released here on Inside-Scooters in the near future.

Tyler Wheeland is also giving away his Lucky SMX Fork, you can learn more about that by checking his Facebook Fan Page Facebook. T-Whee will be giving this fork away to the person who posts the gnarliest clip of them doing a trick down the biggest set or gap they can find. Remember to stay safe... but not that safe..
