I’m psyched to announce that Spencer Steed will now be joining me as a part of the Inside team. Spencer has a long history in this sport, from riding to working in the industry. Originally from Ohio, he moved out to California after high school and ended up working at ScooterZone for a number of months. He moved back to the Midwest after Tilt was in need of a sales guy. He left Tilt in January this year and now runs a distribution company called Forefront Supply. He works extremely hard behind the scenes to do things right and have a positive impact on scootering. Not only that but he’s been my friend for longer than I can remember so I’m excited to have him with me now! I did a quick bio with him, check it out below:

Favorite rider(s): Aaron Watson and David Veltum. Even though they both aren't active, there is nothing like watching those guys shred on a good day.
Favorite part about the industry: Probably just the fact that it is growing. I think more people need to appreciate that simple fact. It is really cool to be able to watch everything unfold the way it has, even if it isn't perfect.
Least favorite part about the industry: Riders with narrow minded or uninformed opinions that preach like they actually have any idea about what is good or bad for the sport.
Ohio transplant Dylan Becker recently flew back from California where he was working at a Scooterzone shop, and so he, along with Josh Toy and Spencer Steed, made this video on the box they have. Super smooth and dialed combos from everyone, Spence has those heelwhip feebles on lockdown.
Josh Toy got behind the lens to shoot and edit this montage of Scooter Zone Flow rider Spencer Steed, and PROTO Pro rider Brandon Kilbury. You get to see the same riding you come to expect when you hear these two names. It looks like Spencer's style is developing a bit more, and is looking really good. BK is keeping it old school on an Ultra Pro, and still killing it. Check out the edit below.
Here is a video of Spencer Steeze doin things on the SC SZ box. Shot quite well through the lens of Josh Toy, and edited just as nicely to match. I don't think I'll ever get used to Spencer riding more than 16 wide hahah.
Spencer recently moved out to southern California from Ohio. Since then he's gotten a cool shirt, hairdo, and scooter. These are some clips Jordan Lago filmed of him at a skatepark. Pretty chill, creative riding from Spence.
Spencer Steed recently uploaded this video, of "throwaway" clips...I've known Spencer for a longgg time now and I have to say these are easily the best clips he's released. I would have been stoked on them even if they weren't throwaway. So I definitely can't wait to see the good clips he has.
This past Easter weekend a bunch of guys from all over the Midwest met up in Ohio to ride, film, and just have a good time together. I myself roadtripped it alone to Tommy Daddono's house, where I met up with Tom as well as Matt Rittler from Wisconsin and Owen Wilson and Dylan Dorfler. From there we drove 6 hours to a hotel in Columbus, where we waited for Spencer Steed, Brian Amato, James Shaheen, Josh Young, Brandon Rowell, and Kelly Zmijewski to arrive. They finally got there, as well as David Veltum and Dylan Kasson, and we drove 2 more hours down to Florence, Kentucky to ride Ollie's indoor park. We unfortunately got kicked out (paid for a 2 hour sesh and rode for 3) and went back home.
The next day we took advantage of the rain-less weather and rode one of Dylan's local parks, Powell, for a while. Everyone was definitely hyped on that session, it was basically scooter riders only at that park until a few skaters showed up. But even they were hyped on what everyone was throwing down. Speaking of which, if you haven't watched the video yet, Ohio OG (and unsponsored) David Veltum shut down the session with his tricks down the step down, he still shreds so hard. And of course DK did some cool tricks. After we finished up there we headed to Cici's Pizza for some grub and then drove off to Ohio Dreams. Tommy Daddono was vital in getting scooters allowed there and having scooter camp there and so we all were able to get in for cheap. A lot of us were hyped for the foam pit but we all got scared off after Tommy slipped in some puddle in front of the rollin and almost put his face through the launch, so we went up the hill to the outdoor section. It was pretty wet still from all the rain but we managed to ride and get some good clips. When we ran out of light we went back into the main park area, where Dylan Kasson was putting on a show. He and I seshed the sickest little 4 stair there, that was definitely a lot of fun haha. We stayed there for maybe a half hour later than we should have and finally got kicked out after getting a bro shot of all the guys who were there. Then we had to head back to the hotel for our last night in Ohio.
After an interesting night, we all packed up to leave. We said our goodbyes, and went on our way. On the way back to Chicago, we looked up some parks on the Internet to see if we could find somewhere to ride. I noticed that the Rob Dyrdek Street Plaza happened to be only a half hour away, and immediately jumped on the chance to ride there. The other guys were a little hesitant at first but after getting there and riding for a bit, they were all stoked. Matt threw down a few sick rail clips despite having cracked Rad bars and I even did a handrail haha. Finally we decided we had better get going since Dylan had a train to catch back in Chicago to get home. I stayed overnight at Tommy's and we rode his local, Lake Bluff, for a little while before I had to leave for my own house.
Overall this was definitely one of my favorite trips I've been on. Met a lot of new riders, was impressed by a lot of the guys, made some new friends, rode some amazing parks. Cannot wait to go back again, or at least to ride with everyone again...which I should be doing at the end of the month. Plans are being made to have Chicago/WI trip soon, get stoked.
Also, if you haven't seen Josh Young's account of the weekend, check it out on the LIT Blog. He includes some extra happenings that I left out as well as some pictures.
The recently de-sponsored Josh Young drove down to Columbus, Ohio this weekend along with Brandon Rowell to ride and film with Spencer Steed and other Ohio locals. Josh says he's been slowing down on riding a lot...but from his clips in this video, you definitely wouldn't be able to tell. Brian Amato's clips really stood out for me as well, love his style. Spencer's part was super good too, 180 whip to slider was so crazy. Enjoyable video all around from these midwest bros.
BJST is the product of a week long trip in Ohio with Brian Amato, Josh Young, Spencer Steed, and Tommy Daddono. Everyone has their own part and the video turned out super good. Josh's nose manual at the end of his part took a total of 216 tries...props to him, I wouldn't try anything that many times haha. The parks in this video are Brian and Spencers locals, they def put down some bangers. Tommy does too many tucks, sorry bro =] Haha nahh he has one of the nicest styles out there.
