Madd Welcomes Two New Riders!

Madd Aus and Madd USA both recently added one rider each to their teams. The lucky Aussie joining the ranks of Coedie Donovan & Co. would be none other than Luke Burland. The 16 year old definitely seems like a good fit for the team, being another overall park shredder.

The rider joining Madd USA is not, in fact, from America. He is known for his huge street tricks, and technical combos. He's been sponsored by a couple companies before now but none nearly as big as Madd. Who am I talking about? The one and only Justin Robertson of Canada. Justin brings new talent to the US Madd team with his amazing street riding. I'm definitely stoked to see him picked up by company like Madd, and I'm sure his fellow Canadians are proud of him.

You can read a profile of each rider on the Maddgear website.

CONGRATULATIONS JUSTIN and LUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nolan Sorensen is Underrated

Ok, so my comment is a bit biased, because I am a big fan of Nolan's riding, maybe it's his flat riding ability that won me over. Or maybe it's because just seeing the first video I posted, shows that he has a lot of consistency..which is something I feel a lot of riders right now really lack. Some can produce banger videos, but when it comes to being consistent at even riding flat, they can't perform.

Nolan has so much natural style in his riding. He has always been really smooth, but the way he makes so many tricks look easy, when they're actually not, is awesome. Below are some of my favorite clips of Nolan. I also included his web edit that we posted a while ago. Check them out below, and look for an Interview with Nolan in the near future.

Hopefully we can see him land this in the future

Yes, Nolan skates too

Nolan Sorensen Recent Web Edit

Really hope we get a new Nolan video sometime in the near future. But for now, these will have to suffice.

Do you guys know a rider that's underrated that you think deserves a little bit more exposure? Shoot me an email, and let me know about him or her, 1stevent1@gmail.com

MGP: East Coast Tour 2

Maddgear's Aus team recently went on another tour of the east coast, and of course Nickeh was there to document it for them.  The Madd Aus team as well as Madd UK rider Rob Wasp went across three states, hitting tons of skateparks along the way.  Some really insane footage in here, Madd once again proves that they're one of the best teams in the sport.

Max Peters- Start of 2011 Blunt Edit

All he does is win.  So clean, so dialed, so stylish.  Max is probably the best in the world at plain backflips...during the Blunt US tour he would do the most ridiculous flairs and flips out of the littlest obstacles.  He's just a nutcase, literally.  Nice to see he learned to nose manny without casing too :)  Be on the lookout from an edit from Blunt rider Brendon Smith too...he desperately needs help finding a song, so if you got any ideas drop a line on his facebook page.

Are You Madd Enough?

It's a known fact now that Madd Gear is one of the most popular companies in the sport. For their amazing Teams in Europe, Australia, and here in the USA, and for the huge line of durable and original products they've released.

But there is one thing that people really notice on the extremely popular MGP Decks. The Patented Trademark Downtube. At first glance people thought it looked weird, but now it has won over plenty of people. Check out some promo pictures below featuring the MGP Downtube.

So where can you get your MGP Scooters? Well on Inside-Scooters we happen to work with quite a few companies that sell MGP Scooters. Just click the links below, and check them out.

Refresh with Aaron Bransdon from FriendlyFlicks

Yes, it is a well known fact that I love Aaron Bransdon's riding, and I love FriendlyFlicks. Naturally, that means that I also love this video. Aaron has always had great style in his riding. This video shows Aaron getting techy as always.

Also I do believe Aaron is in the process of making a nice web edit. Which you will of course find here on Inside-Scooters as soon as it's done. Check his Refresh video below.

Josh Brown Winter Edit

A lot of people knew Josh Brown last year for going big in the streets, tossing himself down tons of stairsets.  Josh unfortunately ended up breaking his leg while attempting to hop a 16 stair about 8 months ago.  He eventually got back into riding and did mostly smaller tech stuff, disappointing a lot of people used to his going big.  With this video, however, Josh is back in full force...he does need to mix it up though, stuff like that feeble truck smith really helps add variety.  Anyways you can definitely tell he worked hard getting some clips filmed, props on that last banger for sure.

The ECX Team Just Got a Little More Street..

ECX has a Team filled with talent. From riders that can shred parks, to amazing tech riders, and with their newest addition, it looks like they're going to be gaining some more street talent. Close friend of mine, Ryan Upchurch is the Team Manager for ECX, and all of the below was written and conducted by Ryan. Check it out below.

Part of my job as team manager for the ECX scooter team is to search for talent, and I have been doing this for almost 3 years now. After filling up our local team completely, Mike Lashbrook (owner) and I spoke about putting on a few out of state riders. Soon after, we added our first out of state rider, Joey Aria. Even after adding Joey, we were planning on putting on at least one more rider, so I began my search for rider number two. It wasn't easy at first, but I soon found the obvious right before me. So without further a due, our new ECX team rider is:

"Hep" Greg Cohen

Greg has been a friend of mine for a few years now after meeting through our previous sponsor EagleSport. I've always taken a liking to his riding, and a lot of other people have too; which gained him the reputation he has in the sport today. I believe Greg will be a great addition to the team because he is definitely a really great guy, on and off his scooter. As part of adding him to the team, Mike and I organized a trip for him to come down and stay at my house for the weekend to ride and film for our work-in-progress DVD entitled "Butter". While down here I had a chance to get some pictures, and sit down with him for an interview, which is listed below:

Ryan: "Name, Age, Location?"

Greg: "Hep" Greg Cohen, 21, New York City, USA.

Ryan: "So to begin man, thanks for taking the time to do this interview with me for Inside-Scooters. Anyway Greg, how are you doing and what have you been up to recently?

Greg: "Not a problem at all man. As for what I've been up to, I've basically just been resting up this winter and healing due to the bad weather."

Ryan: "Yeah man, it hasn't been easy getting to ride lately even down here in Delaware. What was your first reaction when I asked you to be a part of the team?"

Greg: "I was stoked. Last time I made a trip down to Delaware, Mike and everyone else on the team made me feel at home. That feeling was amplified even more on this trip, so I knew it was going to be an awesome thing to be a part of."

Ryan: "More specifically, how was the trip overall, and what was your favorite part about it?"

Greg: "The trip was really fun. I had the chance to get to know everyone alot better, and I got to ride a ton... something I haven't been able to do much of due to the crappy weather this Winter. The Black Diamond Philly sesh was sick, but I had the most fun hanging around the shop and chilling with everyone."

Ryan: "Definitely man. It was really a blast having you around the past few days. On a rather unfortunate note, we both know that ECX's retail store will be closing its doors on February 27th; how will that effect you and what are your feelings on the matter?"

Greg: "I love that place and the fact that the whole ramp setup is there. I'm really gonna be sad to see it go. Mike's had the place for so long, it's a shame. I'm really bummed that the shop is closing down. It's such a great place for everyone to hang out, and have a good time. On the other hand, I have high hopes for the future as part of shopecx.com."

Ryan: "Well Greg, I have to agree with you on that one. It is unfortunate, but I'm confident in saying that big things will come from ECX. That just about wraps it up though Greg, so is there any final words or shout-outs you have?"

Greg: "Well I'd like to give a shout out to Mike, you, and everyone on the team for making the whole trip possible. It was a great time And I just look forward to many more trips like it!"

Ryan: "It was really great having you do this interview man, thanks a lot. It was good talking to you and having you down here this weekend. Take care brother."

As it was briefly described above, the Shopecx team rented out the Black Diamond Philly skate park to film for our DVD. We had a few other riders who we invited to ride, and everything really turned out well. I think I speak for everyone when I say that It was really a great time, and a lot of great riders threw down some great tricks. We successfully filmed several minutes of footage and before long, we will be completely done filming for our DVD, entitled "Butter". It will be completed and on sale just in time for us to kick off our East Coast Summer Tour. On behalf of shopecx.com, I would like to say thank you to Inside-Scooters for letting me post this interview, and to all those riders who help keep us going. Keep checking Inside-Scooters for updates on shopecx.com, our team, and so much more!

Great interview. Also, if you guys haven't seen Greg's Mini Video 4...Do it now. It's easily one of my favorite videos I've seen in a while. You can check it out below.

As you can tell from a couple posts below this one...MaddGear USA Team Manager Anthony "Twan" Bustos recently suffered a horrific accident. It resulted in his ankle literally being snapped backwards. Desafio.

DESAFIO from Balthazar on Vimeo.

Desafio2Desafio, a Spanish word meaning “challenge,” is a project taken on by Frenchie-turned-Spaniard  Balthazar Neveu over five months in Barcelona, Spain.  Balth said he first got the idea for making the video when he “first went out from my new flat and realized I was living two minutes from ‘chuchos.’  It's been my local spot for the 5 past months and Marc Pauls is living there and I thought this guy is so badly underrated so basically light shall be made on some of these unknown riders!”  Marc being Balth’s neighbor and sharing the same passion for the sport, made him an obvious choice to be in the video.  As for why he picked Victor to be in the video, he said, “he was progressing every time we rode together and i thought it was pleasant to film the evolution of the butterfly.”  And finally, Javi was an easy pick for cast, being a local hero yet underrated on the international scene.
Just being in Barcelona really inspired Balth during the making of the video.  He said “This place is so perfect, everything's different, food's cheap, sun's like always shining, so much that when it rains it doesn't even matter, spots are just beautiful and well, I wanted something to remind me of these awesome days in Barcelona.  Making videos is something Balthazar really loves- “For me filming videos and making things go forward just makes me live, otherwise scootering would lack of this creative aspect that I really like about it!”
desafio
Desafio premiered in a local bar after the Barcelona Street Jam that Balth and some others put on.  All the riders from the jam were in attendance, so it was quite a crowd.  The premier almost didn’t get to happen…Balthazar had had to run back home after the jam to burn the video to a DVD on his flatmate’s burner at the last minute.  So, when it started to play at the Nevermind bar, he was quite relieved.
premiereBalthazar hopes Desafio will inspire the local Barcelona riders to make more videos, to embark on bigger projects.  He says the scene has huge potential, and judging from Desafio, they definitely have some great riders leading the pack.  Balth says he hopes “they will understand that even if they have amazing parks in the suburbs, they really should learn to love to ride street in their city.”
Jd_helmeri_gerome Gerome ?, Jandiv, and Helmeri Pirinen at the premier.
Today Balthazar is back in his native Paris, working as an engineer in a photography quality improvement company.  He’s already into another project, called WISE, and says there’s already a video in the works.  He would like to thanks Javi for giving him contacts to organize the premier.
As for the video itself…I loved it.  Each rider has their own unique style.  It really brings back memories of older French street videos…fast paced tech ledge riding, unique obstacles, original styles.  I really hope the BCN guys will continue to make videos.

Scooterzone How To: Bartwists with Raymond Warner

The guys at Scooterzone were at it again, filming a how to on bartwists.  If you haven't seen any other of their tutorials, you should check them out.  They have not only trick how to's but tutorials on putting headsets and such together.  A search for more Scooterzone How To's will lead you in the right direction.

New Gizmania Scooter Shop in Prague

Gizmania just opened a new Scooter shop in Prague, which is the capital, and largest city in the Czech Republic. Oh? You didn't know there was a huge uprising of Scootering in the Czech Republic? Well there is. I believe a lot of that is thanks to Gizmania, and of course one of it's pro riders, Martin Nogol.

Adding to that huge uprising is Gizmania's new shop. Honestly, it just looks great. I also do believe I see a mini ramp, right there in the shop! Do a little shopping, get in a couple runs, and leave the store with a brand new scooter. Doesn't get much better than that does it? Check out the pictures below of the new shop, and stay tuned on IS for the video.

All of these new walk in shops, mean that our sport is growing. Growing to the point where some of these top companies and retail shops are moving into their own shops, instead of remaining online. This is great news for our sport, and it's future. For more news on Gizmania, and all major updates and news in the sport, keep checking Inside-Scooters.
