The ECX Team Just Got a Little More Street..

ECX has a Team filled with talent. From riders that can shred parks, to amazing tech riders, and with their newest addition, it looks like they're going to be gaining some more street talent. Close friend of mine, Ryan Upchurch is the Team Manager for ECX, and all of the below was written and conducted by Ryan. Check it out below.

Part of my job as team manager for the ECX scooter team is to search for talent, and I have been doing this for almost 3 years now. After filling up our local team completely, Mike Lashbrook (owner) and I spoke about putting on a few out of state riders. Soon after, we added our first out of state rider, Joey Aria. Even after adding Joey, we were planning on putting on at least one more rider, so I began my search for rider number two. It wasn't easy at first, but I soon found the obvious right before me. So without further a due, our new ECX team rider is:

"Hep" Greg Cohen

Greg has been a friend of mine for a few years now after meeting through our previous sponsor EagleSport. I've always taken a liking to his riding, and a lot of other people have too; which gained him the reputation he has in the sport today. I believe Greg will be a great addition to the team because he is definitely a really great guy, on and off his scooter. As part of adding him to the team, Mike and I organized a trip for him to come down and stay at my house for the weekend to ride and film for our work-in-progress DVD entitled "Butter". While down here I had a chance to get some pictures, and sit down with him for an interview, which is listed below:

Ryan: "Name, Age, Location?"

Greg: "Hep" Greg Cohen, 21, New York City, USA.

Ryan: "So to begin man, thanks for taking the time to do this interview with me for Inside-Scooters. Anyway Greg, how are you doing and what have you been up to recently?

Greg: "Not a problem at all man. As for what I've been up to, I've basically just been resting up this winter and healing due to the bad weather."

Ryan: "Yeah man, it hasn't been easy getting to ride lately even down here in Delaware. What was your first reaction when I asked you to be a part of the team?"

Greg: "I was stoked. Last time I made a trip down to Delaware, Mike and everyone else on the team made me feel at home. That feeling was amplified even more on this trip, so I knew it was going to be an awesome thing to be a part of."

Ryan: "More specifically, how was the trip overall, and what was your favorite part about it?"

Greg: "The trip was really fun. I had the chance to get to know everyone alot better, and I got to ride a ton... something I haven't been able to do much of due to the crappy weather this Winter. The Black Diamond Philly sesh was sick, but I had the most fun hanging around the shop and chilling with everyone."

Ryan: "Definitely man. It was really a blast having you around the past few days. On a rather unfortunate note, we both know that ECX's retail store will be closing its doors on February 27th; how will that effect you and what are your feelings on the matter?"

Greg: "I love that place and the fact that the whole ramp setup is there. I'm really gonna be sad to see it go. Mike's had the place for so long, it's a shame. I'm really bummed that the shop is closing down. It's such a great place for everyone to hang out, and have a good time. On the other hand, I have high hopes for the future as part of shopecx.com."

Ryan: "Well Greg, I have to agree with you on that one. It is unfortunate, but I'm confident in saying that big things will come from ECX. That just about wraps it up though Greg, so is there any final words or shout-outs you have?"

Greg: "Well I'd like to give a shout out to Mike, you, and everyone on the team for making the whole trip possible. It was a great time And I just look forward to many more trips like it!"

Ryan: "It was really great having you do this interview man, thanks a lot. It was good talking to you and having you down here this weekend. Take care brother."

As it was briefly described above, the Shopecx team rented out the Black Diamond Philly skate park to film for our DVD. We had a few other riders who we invited to ride, and everything really turned out well. I think I speak for everyone when I say that It was really a great time, and a lot of great riders threw down some great tricks. We successfully filmed several minutes of footage and before long, we will be completely done filming for our DVD, entitled "Butter". It will be completed and on sale just in time for us to kick off our East Coast Summer Tour. On behalf of shopecx.com, I would like to say thank you to Inside-Scooters for letting me post this interview, and to all those riders who help keep us going. Keep checking Inside-Scooters for updates on shopecx.com, our team, and so much more!

Great interview. Also, if you guys haven't seen Greg's Mini Video 4...Do it now. It's easily one of my favorite videos I've seen in a while. You can check it out below.

  1. I just want to personally welcome Hep Greg to the ECX family. I have known Greg for a few years and have always respected and admired his style of riding and his dedication to the sport. Greg will be an integral part in helping to promote our sport and company at the street level. Street riding is a huge segment, especially in places where scooters are not permitted in local parks. Greg rides street with a passion that you don't see very often and I am stoked to have him on the team. Greg will be joining us on a few tours this year and at the Xtreme Wheels Comp in Buffalo. Keep an eye out for Greg's company ScooYork as there are some big plans for a product launch this year! WELCOME ABOARD HEP!
