Dialed dropped another Friday Feature today, and this time they took it back to Issue 2 with Matt Somers and his Last Fives. Matt Somers doesn't really ride scooters anymore, but at the time he did, and he was a beast. Here's hoping someday Matt picks up the scoot again.
Matt Somers, ex-Scooterzone rider/Current Jerseyzone employee has been making these video logs over the past few weeks. The topics range widely (from drinking for the first time, to sky diving, to high school, which is what this one is about), but they all have one thing in common: They are weirdly hilarious, and I'm not sure exactly why. That might just be my sense of humor but he seems to be getting a decent following on these things so it looks like other people are enjoying them too. You can check out the rest of his Vlogs on his Youtube channel, where he also posts a bunch of reviews and trick tutorials.
So for whatever reason Matt left the Scooterzone teamand release these clips, which are what he had been saving for the SZ DVD. Matt can do a lot of tricks and demonstrates it in this songless video. Boardslide (or whatever you call that) to decade was so crazy. And just in case you were wondering, yes he will still work at the Jerseyzone. I also have to say I'm pretty bummed he decided to release this without even editing it to a song. Seems like a waste of time/footage/effort.
If there is one thing Matt Somers does well, besides his riding, it's his videos. Whether they are his tutorial videos on his own channel, the tutorials he's done for SZ, and even more recently his review videos of various products. You can always expect a good video from Matt. In this video he gives you a rundown of the new Scooter Zone Jersey shop. It has come a long way in a short amount of time.
With SZ growing like it is, you have to wonder where they are going to pop up a store next. Any ideas?

The brand new Scooter Zone in New Jersey is having their grand opening on Saturday June 30th. They officially opened earlier this month, but this time around they will be having an even better sale, and they have a lot more products in stock. At the shop that day will be, Store Manager Matt Somers, Nick Darger who is still in town for a while, and Josh Kish!! The entire store will be 10% off and Free Pizza and Drinks will be served as well!
Scooter Zone was the first walk in shop dedicated 100% to scooters. They weren't a bike shop before, or skate shop that just started carrying scooter products, they have always been dedicated to scootering. Since opening so many years ago, they have grown a lot. Well they are about to do something else that hasn't been done in the USA before yet. They aren't just opening another new shop in California, they're opening a brand new shop in New Jersey.
NJ has been a hot spot in the sport since the beginning, so it is only right that they be the first out of Cali, Scooter Zone shop. For more information read the flyer below!
I love when SCOOT games are actually fun to watch. Matt Somers is known for being quite the beast on flat, basically just makes everything look easy. While Josh Kish might be known for being a TIC rat, or park rider, he can actually ride pretty much anything. Check out their SCOOT game below.
Featuring Matt Somers, Josh Kish, Hunter Bechtle, and from across the pond, Lewis Williams. They mostly ride a grindbox, and ride it pretty well. Matt's last trick is ridiculous.

Then we got Michael Pytel. He isn't that well known yet, but if he continues to throw down like he does in these clips, that can change. Some riders just can't help but go balls to the wall when they ride, and it seems like Michael is one of those guys. Flip to lip was ridic.

Scooter Zone's Matt Somers teaches you guys a trick that is slowly becoming more popular to do on rails. This is part of SZ's "Advanced Tutorials" so this isn't something beginner riders should just go out and try. Check out the How To below.
Ok, when I heard that Ryan Gould, Nick Darger, Raymond Warner, Dan Holm, and Matt Somers were going to be making a box edit, I got stoked. After watching the edit, I immediately had to watch it again. These guys straight killed it. All of them ride for Scooter Zone, and Matt and Dan were here from the East Coast. Just complete tech madness, and I always enjoy that rare Nick Darger footage. Watch and enjoy.

"The Box is Back" is going to be a box edit featuring some of Scooter Zone's best. Ryan Gould has been known for making some pretty awesome box edits, and now with the addition of some of the other SZ guys, it's bound to get pretty hectic. This is the preview, and the official edit will drop here on Inside-Scooters at 12:00 January 21st.

Matt Somers got his first taste of doing "How To's" when he took a trip down to California. Returning back home didn't stop Matt from continuing to make How To videos for other riders. He has been knocking a lot of them out lately. Below is his latest one, on how to do one of the least done grinds in the sport, the Frontside Overcrook. Check it out below.

This is a video that Matt Somers is putting together...I guess I don't know much about it except that it looks like a stacked lineup of riders. Guys from Jersey, Canada, Chicago, Florida, all over in there. Should be pretty cool when it comes out.
This week Matt Somers keeps his How To's going with a How To on Double Barspins. You'll notice as Trick Darger points out, that Matt is breaking the How To Curse! He is so consistent that he is landing all his How To tricks first try haha. Great job again by Matt, check it out below.
Oh Matt, Matt, Matt... we can't be THAT consistent though can we? Especially with Front Dono Flips over a rail. So here are some bails from Matt Somers and his battle with the Dono Flip.
So today I got an email from Scooter Zone Pro rider, Matt Somers. He had filmed something called, a Six Trick Fix. You might have heard of the same concept being done in skateboarding, and bmx...So Matt decided it's time to bring it to scooters as well. Basically he throws down six tricks on a grindbox. After speaking to Matt, we decided and agreed that this would be a new thing we do here at Inside-Scooters.
The Inside-Scooters Six Trick Fix, is not like the Super 60. It gives you a chance to film Six tricks on any obstacle you want. You can't however film those six tricks on different obstacles. For example if you choose your Six Trick Fix to be on a quarter pipe, all of your tricks gotta be on that quarter pipe. Just like Matt Somers chose to do his on this grind box, that he destroys.
