Flavor Awakening Deck Review by Gryndo Scooters

Casey DeHaven of Gryndo Scooters recently got his hands on the Flavor Awakening Deck, and he made a review for Gryndo. Check it out below.



I’ve been an avid supporter of Kevin Demay and his scooter deck designs ever since his original Ethic and Addict parts were released. I’ve always loved the way Kevin designs his parts, and the heart he puts into it. It seems like every deck he designs builds off the last. The Addict deck definitely had a couple of problems - no flat bottom, no flat sides, was a little weak; and the brake system was cool but also odd. The Ethic deck built off the Addict: fixing the brake issue, becoming more solid while maintaining the lightweight feel, and also incorporating some cool new graphics and designs. Now Kevin Demay has developed the Flavor Awakening Deck, which I believe is the essence of perfection from Mr. Demay.

Everything about the Flavor Awakening scooter deck is perfect (and even more so in the V2 model, which solves some of the strength issues the original had). It is lightweight while feeling supremely solid. It has a flat bottom, flat sides, integrated headtube, super sleek design, awesome graphics, noseblunt plate, and a killer brake system that is easy to dial.
Overall I'd say the Awakening deck will work for any type of rider. If you’re a bit shorter get the 20.5" long deck. Like bigger decks or are a bit taller? Get the 21.25" and you’re set. This Flavor deck has it all, whether you're a park rider, a street rider, or just a mellow rider. It looks good, rides good, and feels good. Michele Failla Out for Injury

Michele was working on a full edit, but he ended up breaking his leg, and is now out until further notice. Which is a shame. 2012 was big for Michele, and any of the guys that got onto the Gryndo Scooters Pro Team. It literally took all these am riders, and they ended up all pushing themselves, and are all ten times better than they were before.

Gryndo Scooters Video Parts 2012: Ian Herncjar

Ian is one of the sickest riders out today.  This edit was way too short but it was good.  I loved how chill that firecracker was after the triple down that set...too good.  This video is the latest from Gryndo, who are coming out with a video from Josh "Fedora" Moore next, so watch out for that.

Couple of edits from the Gryndo Team. Casey also happens to be the Team Manager. Michele has been pushing his limits this past year, and it's starting to show. Really liked the downside whip to late bar. Solid edits from these guys. Waiting to see Ian Herncjar's edit now.

Gryndo Scooters Video Part 2012 Michele Failla

This kid is comin up.  A street rider from New York, Michele is really good at frontside tricks.  Loved all the downside whip combos.  There's a clip on a spot created by Hurricane Sandy which was pretty cool.  Gryndo is putting out three more video parts with one being released each weekend starting now.  Gryndo has a lot of young talent so I'm looking forward to it.

Ian went hard on the uprail for this one, riding it like its a kicker haha.  Last trick world's first!?!?  Ian does it for Gryndo.

Mikaylee Failla Summer Edit 2

Mikaylee was recently announced to be one of the riders on the new Gryndo Team, and for good reason. Mikaylee has been at it for a while, he's been sending me videos for some time now, and with this latest one he really got my attention. He's been pushing his street game, and it's paying off nicely. Definitely an up and comer in the NY scene. Loved the downside fingerwhip and his ender. Check it out.

Gryndo Team Launch

Gryndo Scooters has a team, whaddya know?  This video was tight, a group of young shredders from all over the country.  Hyped on these guys for sure.  Ian Herncjar has been coming up for so long, I hope he's working on a full part.
