Seems strange to think that you might be riding a Deck, that you think is from one company.. when in reality, it was designed for a completely different company, doesn't it??
Well, I will say there are very very few people that will understand the video posted below. No, not because it's in French, but because you guys just won't understand how Marcel (Owner of Eagle-Sport, District, Addict) is. Though I think some of his former "employees" and riders might. Kevin Demay breaks it all down in a very professional manner. From his start in the sport, to starting District and Addict, to the very end. Finally onto the beginning of Ethic.
It's a lengthy video, but I don't think anyone will be turning it off until it's done. You really get a sense of what District is all about. Of what happened with the Owner behind the scenes, and more.
Also enjoy a sneak peek of the Ethic products hopefully set to drop before the end of 2012.

ReplyDeleteIts stuff like this that get me thinking, why doesn"t our sport have individual companies that make specific parts like tilt for pegs or Magray for brakes insted of other brands out their that sell the same stuff evrey other company does and if they did that each company can focus on makeing a certain part better and more durable and their will be a ton of more riders out their because insted of getting on just one team the rider can have multiple sponsorships like for wheels, clamps, or even headsets.

ReplyDeleteI've sadly had the inconvenience of having to deal with Marcel as a team rider for Eagle and District way back in the day. And I chuckle with this video because Kevin hit every single point. I've always boycotted District, Eagle and as of recently Addict because of the poor quality in their decks. But hearing about Micro and Dissidence angers me a bit more. It's just sad how Marcel takes advantage of so many good people, team and designers/brand owners alike, and when they get wise to his true self, he screws them or makes it so that you want to leave. This was the situation with my sponsorships. Marcel is an unprofessional piece of shit. Screwing the riders/brands that are in this sport for the right reasons.

On another note, I saw Monky riding the new Ethic parts and they are pretty sick. A lot of you naive kids will see this video and think it's just a rebranded Addict, but I can tell you with confidence that it definitely IS NOT! Even the downtubes look completely different, better. And the drop outs not only look stronger, but actually are.

in conclusion my point is, you all jumped to the conclusion that kevin was telling the truth... behind a camera, and only a select few have met him in person, any man could sit behind a camera and spin a story like that and you would react in the very same way. Its actually sad to see so much arrogance. You all never stopped once to think that there may be another side to the "story" you all religiously believe.
I think that attacking the riders of district is childish aswell... you dont know us, we all love riding just as much as any other one of you.

Although i do tend to favor rider owned and ran companies. As they do, do their best to support and give back to the sport.But what im trying to say here is, Rory Coe nor Christ Hart are who we know as Marcel, so i really don't understand why they're receiving so much hate, Yes i know they are defending/supporting Marcel and possibly for reasons only known to them or maybe those reasons are public knowledge, regardless stop giving riders hate. also, i really feel for Kevin, although it does not concern me, i do not know Marcel so its not my right to judge nor make assumptions, and i do wish kevin all the best for his new up and company as it is understandably incredibly difficult to launch a product/ brand. Apparently i wasn't even on the team you said i was and for over a year was mislead. I constantly waited months for parts, along with james bull and we both were never invited on a trips or tours, ( even your mum and sister came on one). I definitely agree that the company's riders are not at fault in this situation, in fact I would even go as far to say that they may soon fall victim to Marcel's abuse, and should view this video as an opportunity or even a warning rather than an attack.
In my opinion, the facts spoken by Kevin in this video must be the truth. I think anyone still in doubt should take a step back and consider the following situation: if Kevin had not been screwed over by Marcel as has stated in the above video, and Marcel was in actuality a really genuine guy who treated Kevin well, then why would Kevin leave the company and go on to make a 25 minute long video exposing Marcel's misdeeds?
Rory is only acting as the "voice" of Marcel.. trust me. He used to try and make ALL of us do it when we were working for him/part of the Team. I bet half my Team riders remember that VERY WELL..

I remember it vividly, Steven. If he was a true "businessman" he would act as such rather than making it personal with decisions that he knows would fuck a lot of people over. All time funniest thing any company owner/RND Manager has ever said about one or more of his TEAM RIDERS. If we're riding them so wrong, why were we on the team in the first place?!?! He sent them over for testing, and we did exactly that, well, for a day or two before they snapped or bent. Sadly enough, I bent the District steel forks steertube in TWO TRICKS! And not even on tricks that would allow any stress. Barspin to manual to tuck no hander out on a foot high manual pad. And I think it's safe to say that I'm not a sketchy rider. Riding it wrong, hahahahaha, still makes me crack up.

Hi every one, just a word by a french man, yea another, i know Kevin since french id, and befor, i've often speak with him and i try to do many things for what is our sport today, then, i speak with marcel, BenJ, Kevin, heard things and learn bad things from every where, as i work for my local shop, i got some information from the sellers that you can't get from people, and i learn how Marcel was ... a shit, i don't have to see this video to see what's going on, but just, you rider, just see. Steven worked for District, then behind Districts back he was getting paid by Scooter Zone so District fired him, thats what this is all about.

DeleteI left the whole "FSP" Group for my own personal reasons, involving DSA, District, and Eagle. Which were all companies I worked for.
I am still friends with the owner of DSA, but not with Marcel. (if you haven't already noticed)
But nah. I never worked for Scooter Zone behind anyones back. Marcel got mad that I simply WENT INSIDE Scooter Zone shops.

Ok, one more former District/Eaglesport rider is here to tell you that Marcel's way of doing things is horrible. Honestly, I was shocked when I found out I am not a part of the team anymore. I released another promotional edit two months ago, it got on IS and one week later there appears a video under the name "New Team" on District's channel. What the hell? If he or Helmeri - the current European team manager - think I am not good enough to represent this brand anymore, why won't they at least send me an e-mail beforehand? Why am I finding out about this from my youtube subscriptions? This is ridiculous. I tried to get in touch with Marcel and received an answer yesterday. Yes, TWO MONTHS after the whole thing happened! "About sponsoring/support: we ask at least some communication/edits/comments/exposure from our riders, when it isnt enough then we have to stop support/sponsoring as our brands have to grow and excist by the exposure/avdertising of our teammemebers." - That’s what was in the letter. Could it get any worse? I created my own logistic chain (through Estonia, just because Marcel can't ship to Russia directly for some reasons), worked my hardest to restore brand’s image (it wasn’t that easy since the bitter experience with V1 parts), filmed and edited lots of videos and sold lots of District parts in my country throughout the past two years – and then I receive such message. Feels like I was “chewed up and spitted out” as Josh Toy said. There's a lot more I could tell about how wrong things go while dealing with FSP group but I believe that reading all the comments have already helped you to realise that. Hope that some people will learn from my experience.

In all honesty, if Chris and Rory are happy, then awesome. Read our comments again though, we are warning him of how Marcel has screwed countless amounts of riders out of money that is owed to them, for him exploiting their names for a profit. And as far as I know, Rory is the only rider who has seen a cent from his signature parts. That right there, is special treatment. And is extremely upsetting to the people who deserve the money more than he does. BenJ, Coedie, Fernando, Jess, Hep Greg, the list goes on. We aren't throwing around false information to just be involved in an internet discussion. These are real riders, that were taken advantage of by a snake in the grass.

when you think of a company it should not just lay on there parts, district might have the easiest stuff to ride, but when your giving money to something that is abusing our sport and taking that money out of curculation of the industry then you should think if its RIGHT to support and buy off that company, point blank period for me is that i dont know or need to know marcel, because if the money im giving to him isnt going to helm the sport i love and only lead to weaker and more patetic parts then right there im not buying off him. the great companys are the ones that make heaps of improvments to the sport, Proto is an amazing outstanding company owned by scooterers, they improved the industry with the invention of the scs, and rad with the back sweep bars... i feel great buying from companys like that, ive never like district and can only hope this situation goes no further with anyone else getting abused.
