Gizmania just opened a new Scooter shop in Prague, which is the capital, and largest city in the Czech Republic. Oh? You didn't know there was a huge uprising of Scootering in the Czech Republic? Well there is. I believe a lot of that is thanks to Gizmania, and of course one of it's pro riders, Martin Nogol.
Adding to that huge uprising is Gizmania's new shop. Honestly, it just looks great. I also do believe I see a mini ramp, right there in the shop! Do a little shopping, get in a couple runs, and leave the store with a brand new scooter. Doesn't get much better than that does it? All of these new walk in shops, mean that our sport is growing. Growing to the point where some of these top companies and retail shops are moving into their own shops, instead of remaining online. You may already be familiar with some of the Scooter Zone Pro riders, like Raymond Warner and Monky. But they got a team of flow riders as well. These guys are quickly moving their way up the ladder. Two of those riders are Michael Knudson and Ryan Gould.
My first memory of Michael, I was in Arizona, and I saw a kid in the parking lot throwing flat triple tailwhips like it was no big deal. Needless to say I was pretty impressed.
My first time seeing Ryan ride was when me and a bunch of friends were at Chino. He was killing it with his pegs, and had my attention right away. So I'm glad that these two guys are now representing Scooter Zone. Check out their Promo video below.
Young Sean Scully from Australia, recently turned 12 years old, and he is already developed into one hell of a rider. Usually style is something that needs to be developed as a rider, but as seen in Sean, there are some riders who just "got it".

Transit Scooter Tour 2 took place over 8 days last June. The guys organizing the tour decided to keep the invites to mainly Midwest riders, including some unknowns and some more recognizable. A total of 10 riders stayed the week at Tommy Daddono's house in Lake Bluff, Chicago. I was fortunate enough to be able to go and I have to say it was the funnest week of my life. From Tommy's mom's amazing breakfasts, to Racine David, and Crazy David and winning the Milwaukee competition, I know it'll be an experience I'll never forget. There are a ton of funny moments in the DVD, which includes a full "Extra Lulz" section which chronicles only a sample of the fun times we had. -Jordan Jasa

As you may have heard, Hayden O'Connor recently earned himself a place on the Maddgear Pro team. He definitely deserves it, congrats to him. He filmed a few riding clips with his new camera, still getting the settings worked out, during one chill afternoon at his local. In the video below are some clips from the Compound indoor, mucking around and then some from a contest that was held there. 180 quint perfectly...who does those in comps runs? Only Madd team riders I guess.
DSA is known in this sport for a few things. One of them is making some of the strongest forks in the industry, and the other is being the US Distributor for Eagle-Sport and District. If it wasn't for DSA we in the USA would have one hell of a time getting our hands on Eagle and District products.

Helmeri Pirinen is a close friend of mine from Finland. Helping Helmeri get onto Eagle-Sport/District was one of the last things I did while I worked with the company, and it has paid off just like I hoped it would. He is an amazing rider with a great outlook on the sport and it's future. We are seeing a new version of Helmeri, now that he has Eagle and District backing him up as his Sponsors. I can only imagine what we are going to see form Helmeri later in 2011. I recently had time to catch up him and got a nice interview out of it. Read it below.
Steven: Name, Age, Location?
Helmeri: Helmeri Pirinen, 23, Helsinki Finland.
Steven: Helmeri, first of all, thanks for doing this interview for Inside-Scooters. How have you been lately?
Helmeri: Yeah no problem at all. Always nice to do things like this. I was in Barcelona few weeks ago and that trip was definitely one of my best trips ever. So many good riders and awesome street spots. I did few big slams there so I had to have little break after that (had some stitches on my face and things like that heh). But anyways now it's all good like you can see from my new District web edit.
Steven: I think a lot of riders are interested in knowing about other top riders set ups. What are all the parts on your scooter right now?
Helmeri: Well I rode my first years with cheap market scooters (like from 2000 to 2003) and after that I changed it to JD Bug and Razor pro model. I got my first one piece bars only one year ago (WEE <3 you Madis!) and my first one piece deck this year thanks to District. So now my set up is:
550mm AL-1 District bars
District light double clamp
District pro headset
District fork
District deck
110mm Eagle spoked wheels
To be honest I was confused with all these new parts. You know it's weird to have all these after riding many years with JD bugs hah. The feeling of riding is much better with these things compared to those old scooters.

Steven: You have a really unique trick list, with a lot of opposite spins, and tailwhips both ways. Are there any tricks right now, that you want to add to that trick list?
Helmeri: Of course there's always something new what you can learn. In future I would like to learn some new switch tricks and grinds. Heelwhip to bs lip for example would be so cool.
Steven: Over the years, you've gotten a reputation for being a “sketchy” rider, though I've noticed your riding is cleaning up a bit now. Does it, or did it bother you when riders would call your riding sketchy?
Helmeri: I have got a lot of feedback concerning my style. At first I didn't care did I land clean or not. You know landing was landing for me, sketchy or clean. Now things have changed a little bit. I have started feeling my tricks more and trying to do my tricks without any pressure. Maybe that's the reason why my style is much cleaner nowadays.
Steven: Now it's well known that your passion is street riding. What is it about riding street that makes you love it so much?
Helmeri: When I strarted scootering, all my friends were skateboarders. Actually I skated sometimes too. Maybe the passion for street riding comes from the early years. It just feels so good to ride street. You can make your own lines, you can do unique stuff and of course you can go big! It's so nice to chill and ride with your friends on street. I love it!
Steven: You currently hold the record for the biggest handrail done on a scooter, an 18 set. Watching your video again, it's obvious that it has to have been hard as hell to get the balls to do that. Honestly, what was going through your head from the time you started trying that trick, to the time you landed it?
Helmeri: Hah it was a battle between me and that handrail. It took me like half an hour before I even tried to do it. Then after some kind of a test jump I decided to try to land that handrail. You know you can't try that kind of a handrail many times. It's like you will land it or you will die heh. Anyway I tried to land it but at the end of the rail my scooter slipped and I did a hard slam.
At first I though that I broke something and the rail won but no no... I came back. I couldn't even walk normally but I didn't want to give up. I just said to my friends that: ”this rail won't win this battle”. It was scary to try it again but somehow I managed to concentrate enough and I landed it. The feeling after landing was something you can't get everyday. That was unbelievable!
Steven: We've seen you really start to mature and progress as a rider in your latest videos. As soon as the weather clears up for you, should we be expecting another Helmeri street video? And if so, do you have any big bangers in mind?
Helmeri: You will see some crazy street riding for sure. I will take some tricks to street what no one haven't ever done. New rail stuff and as unique riding as possible. District might have some big plans comming up so next summer will be wild.
Steven: Well thank you Helmeri for taking the time to do the interview with Inside-Scooters, do you have any shout outs, or last words?
Helmeri: Thank you Steven! Remember kids that this sport is not serious business. Try to have fun and enjoy scootering. Don't fight with each others or anything stupid like that. The meaning of scootering isn't to be better than someone else. We all are doing this because we like scootering and the feeling what we get from it. We are one big family you know.

So, this might be throwaway, but it's also Dylan Kasson footage. Which means that even though it's throwaway, there is some ridiculous stuff in here. Such a talented rider who has come such a long way in the sport. Literally one of the guys who started at the bottom, and worked hard until he got to the top. Easily one of my favorite riders to watch. Just has such a huge variety of tricks, and does them all sooo effortlessly.

Dissidence finally released their video with the best entries in their "Go Big or Go Home!" contest...from the looks of the clips, it seems a lot of people decided to go home. I guess I shouldn't be saying anything though, I didn't even enter haha. Not that there weren't any bangers, Javi Trepat and Stefan Hefner definitely threw down. Congrats to Stefan for winning the $666. Hopefully next time there'll be some better clips.

Hayden is a young shreder out of Corona, Ca and shows some real promise in his riding! I was browsing around on FaceBook when Max DeMoss shot me the link. At first i was hesitant to click the link, but i did anyways. What i found was Hayden, a young rider with developing skills that I believe will surely be a force to reckon with when he comes of age. After watching I instantly sought him out and shot him some questions. You will find those below..
Chris: How old are you and where do you reside?
Hayden: I'm 12 years old and I live in Corona, CA.
Chris: What tricks are you currently working on?
Hayden: There are a couple tricks I'm working on.. #1 I've almost got the bar 540 air and #2 I'm working on a 360 Bri whip. But what's important to me is style.
Chris: I see that this is a video for Equalibryum, How do you like being apart of a the company?
Hayden: I love it. I think it's a great company, because of Equalibryum I have traveled to a lot of different places. I dig their bands and all my friends wear them. Equalibryum supports me to the fullest and I give back by spreading the news around town.
Chris: Where do you see your riding level in 5 years, & what companies do you hope to be involved with?
Hayden: In 5 years I see myself as a pro and maybe inventing new tricks. I hope to be riding for a couple big company names. for example, Scooter Zone, Lucky, and Phoenix.
