The year was 2005, we still bolted our folding mechs, and basically rode our scooters stock out of the box. A rider that had blasted onto the scene a few years earlier, was Matt Andrus, a BMXer who had found a new passion in Scooters. Matt is a true pioneer of our sport, and some of the tricks you will see in this video, are "World Firsts" as you guys call them today. We didn't bother with titles like that back then, a new trick, was just a new trick, and Matt did a lot of them. This video was highly praised when it released over 9 years ago for Matt's tech style, and crazy barspin combos. A true legend of the sport, and someone I am glad to say is a good friend of mine. Check it out.

Matt Andrus: ROOTS
Matt, being one of scooter riding's OG pioneers, has been around for a long time. He grew up riding with his brother John, who now rides bikes in shows, builds skateparks, and films bmx/skate videos for a living. He was the one originally filming Matt back in the day, so it seems fitting that the Andrus brothers would reunite again for this video about Matt. In it he talks about how he started, getting on the original Micro team, and more. Matt is one of the most genuine people I've ever met in this sport, and he really sums it up nicely- "If its not fun, then you need to take a step back, and check yourself". After that quote we get some rad footage, from Southern Cali and Wisconsin.

Matt Andrus Scooter Montage
Matt Andrus Scooter Montage from John Andrus on Vimeo.
Matt, if you don't know who he is, is one of scooter ridings most OG riders. Started at pretty much the beginning, rose to the top of the sport as he got sponsored by Micro, then pretty much fell off the face of the earth in 2007 (after the original Transit Scooter Tour). However, over the past year he's gotten back into it, was picked up by Scooterzone, and is shredding once again. Matt's brother Jon put together this montage of older clips of Matt for everyone. Matt's currently filming a new video, to be put out within the next month or two. Can't wait for that.

Wisconsin OG Sesh at Racine
Matt Andrus had a couple guests in town for the Whitewater comp that was held recently and they decided to hit up Racine skatepark a couple days before. Matt, Jon Jacobs, Ryan Grant, Brandon Aguilar, Max Caldwell, Joey Aria and more were filmed shredding it up on the lakeside park. Diggin the clips of Ryan for sure, kid has gnarly steeze for days. Joey's clip is just silly.

And On the 7th Day God Brought Matt Andrus.
This is a day video at Whitewater Skatepark featuring Matt Andrus, Johnathan Jacobs, Ryan Grant, and Zach Whiting. Yes you read that right, Matt Andrus is back after about a (and I can't believe its been this long) 4 year hiatus from the sport...not only him but an unrecognizable John Jacobs too. I am so, so, SO stoked to see both these guys back on the scooter.
Welcome back Matt and John. Leave a comment for them and I know they will be stoked.
