Welcome to Phoenix Pro Scooters: Josh Toy

it comes to being a true OG, you gotta mention Josh Toy. This guy has been around since the beginning, has a ton of "world firsts" and like a few other OG's out there, he is still in the sport, and still getting it done. Josh recently got picked up by Phoenix Pro Scooters, and this is his Welcome edit. While it can get tough finding time to go ride real street/park with a full time job. It has to feel good knowing the place Josh does work at, Scooter Zone, has some stuff for him to ride right inside.

  1. Love to see that he's still riding! Our sport needs to support more OG's.

  2. The turndowns bother me. They're supposed to be a stylish trick, they don't look good if you only hold them for a split second. also, it kind of bothers me that he filmed a whole welcome video on such a small amount of obstacles.

  3. Gayest video ever

  4. Joe, trying finding time to ride when you work six days a week, and have a family to take care of. Riding takes a back seat when you only have a single day to spend with your wife and kids. So I don't have the luxury of riding whenever or wherever I want. On a lighter note, we are going to be fixing the ramps in the shop up and possibly adding a couple things pretty soon. So maybe my next edit might be more interesting to watch.

  7. Loving the hate. All I can say is, I could care less if you like the video or not. I've earned my stripes and don't care to earn anymore. The more important part for me, is pushing myself to learn new tricks and combos, which I have been doing. And staying away from the MGP/Envy fanboy tricks and combos that make riding boring to watch. Seeing the same old tricks on different obstacles, from riders that aren't original enough to come up with their own combo or trick ideas. They pluck them from the latest comp riders videos and think its tip top. Briflips, buttercups, and dialed, three of the most annoyIng things every kid feels they NEED to do/say to look cool. This sport is turning out like skateboarding, and not in a good way. Kids riding specifically to get sponsored/sponcered. Or doing it just because half their friends fell into the same mold.
    Rant, ended.

    1. Not trying to hate i just want something cleared up, Josh you say MGP/Envy fanboy tricks but i see brendon smith being the most og rider in the sport, making a full edit of new tricks no one else is doing yeah it may be bri's/ buttercups but he has also proven to do good shit on ledges and even rails/drops. Watch his Weekend in warnambool edit some different tricks in there, also in his new two days worth..
also max peters/Ryan williams have a unique style to their own also setting the bar high with new tricks in almost all edits.
just wanna know why they get so much hate for going big and making the sport enjoyable to watch?

    2. Brendon smith is a ho bag who has done nothing for the sport!!! shut your face FANBOY and go play Pokemon! RYyan williams can lick my balls all day and he still will never be as good as josh toy was back in 05 when "RYAN" was still sucking on his moms tit!

  11. If you can only ride a box in your shop, then why are you pro? People like Heath kerchart actually gave up their spots on Emerica and shit because they knew there was another kid who was doing more and deserved it more, just shows again that no one knows what an actual pro should be in this sport. I'm not hating on you personally by any means, I just think it's unfair when there's probably another kid out there that can do a lot more for the company.

    1. Josh is way more like Steve Caballero!!!,,, not a Heath Kerchart (you must know jack shit about skateboarding dawg) #1 & #2 i think teams do know who they should be actual pro or not because your not, LOSER!! JOSH TOY WAS DOING THIS SHIT WHEN YOU HAD TRAINING WHEELS ON YOU FUCKING SCOOTER!

  12. I do a lot more than just riding other spots for my sponsors, you're obviously very ignorant. I help with product designs, marketing, graphic designing, video editing, plus managing a shop. But as for riding, I'm a mentor. I do just about every scooter camp available in the US. So before you throw empty accusations out there on how I handle my sponsorships, think before you type. Or rather, just let it go, because you know nothing, "anonymous".

  13. Josh, you just blew my mind with these grind combos. I'm super stoked cause now I got a bunch if new shit to practice thanks to your inspiration (not that I want to straight up jack your tricks). 180 to fakie double-peg to 180 heelwhip was super buttery.

p.s. Don't waste your time reading my comment or anyone else's comments on this worthless website. It's only looked at by regular/normal/uninspiring kids and not the special/unique/undefined core of riders, like yourself, that actually carry the sport on their shoulders every waking moment. I too am just as worthless and average as the 99% of people on this site, hence my comment.

  14. I like the video and I agree with most of what Josh said. I remember back when scootering was just a few years old and Josh Toy was the best and most original rider. He was also the first talented filmer and editor to produce quality scooter videos and DVDs. To me he was the first person to make scootering legit. His style and cleanness of riding appealed to me as a skateboarder and showed me that scootering is a real sport and that it could actually be taken seriously. He has always held a very professional demeanor in the industry, something even many of the best riders today lack. He is one of the longest still riding scooter riders in the world. The fact that he is still scootering and working in the industry amongst people who don't have respect for what he has done shows how much he loves the sport. Its okay if you appreciate other people's riding more than Josh Toy's, but no one should disrespect him.

    Consider this video:

  15. Thanks for the support. I really don't care what a majority of kids have to say because I know a lot of them don't know any better. The comment that I don't do anything for my sponsor, irks me a bit because I know for damn sure that I deserve every single sponsor I have. Not only have I earned it for what I've done for the sport in the past, but I continue to give back by being a counselor to kids at scooter camps. I see it as my opportunity to school the kids and lead the. In the right direction for a lot of things. Sponsorships, riding in general, how to conduct themselves at comps, etc. Like I said earlier, I see too many kids sticking to briflips and all the trendy tricks. I help them by telling them to do tricks that are fun to them rather than what they perceive to be the best tricks/combos. A lot of the best riders are the best because they are simply having fun. The creativity comes out because of it. When you're trying to stomp tricks just because some pro did it, you put pressure on yourself to ride for the wrong reasons.

  16. Honestly, you must care what we have to say if you keep responding. I'm not going to respond again, I voiced my opinion. You said you don't care but you also tried justifying the reasons why we don't like the video which shows you do care.

This sport sucks, getting sponsored is pretty much whatever team owner you know best or whoever's dick you suck the most. Josh I know you WERE one of the best in the sport, you do deserve your spot on Phoenix and you do a hell of a lot more than just ride. Although, for you to voice it so harshly definitely makes you come off as cocky. "If you try to stomp tricks just because some pro did it" is what happens when people look up to older/better riders. Obviously kids are going to be inspired and want to do similar tricks to their favorite riders. Nothing you say will change that. I still think you should have taken more time on the video to ride other obstacles.

  18. Guys before you go abusing / hating on josh saying he has never done anything for the sport and does not deserve his sponsor.
Look at this video footage from 2004!
You cannot just simply watch this and still have the same rank attitude towards him.
