841 Wheels Quick Hitters with Dom Olorenshaw

Dom's been spending plenty of time in California, and he's been using it well. Supposedly Dom is one of those guys that no matter what spot you go to, he ends up killing it. While this little edit is for the 841 wheels, it once again shows how much easier grinding seems to be with an AO deck. Starting to wonder what everyone's thoughts are on the AO deck, and the whole grind plate thing. Do you guys look at it as, "cheating" or what?

  1. The while cheating thing, is bogus. If that's the case, then scooters shoul have never left folding systems. Gotta get with the times and try something new. And if it helps you, why wouldn't you except it?!

  3. I agree. i mean old skaters put plastic rails on there skateboards to grind better. So scooters should be able to also. -Scott Woodward

  4. i wouldnt consider it cheating but it does get annoying if the only grind combos they bother to learn is just tricks in and out of feeble. If the grind plate covers the front of the deck too then why is there not more people on the team doing noseblunts or crooks??? I feel like there is a lot of potential for that deck once people realize that there is more to grinds then back boards and feebles.

  5. Anyone who 'hates' on the grind plate and blunt plugs, is just silly.
AO decks open up a whole new world of possibilities in riding and the soulframe plate is obviously the future of (street)scootering.
I feel very strongly about that, but its just my opinoin.

  6. yea I'll be honest I used to think grindplates were kinda whack but I mean.. plenty of bmxers rock plastic pegs. As far as I'm concerned it's as much cheating as pegs on a scooter or a headtube designed for footjams.. which isn't very much

  7. I have an ao deck and I really like it. I don't think it's cheating having a grind plate because its still hard to keep your balance and its soooo slippery it's hard to stay under control!

  8. I don't think it's cheating, I don't have an AO deck I got a TSI Threshold but my next deck will be an AO deck

  9. I dont consider it cheating but its definitely not for me. The grind plate might be perfect for people that switched from rollerblading.

  10. No pros ride with the grind rails on skateboards anymore (unless you're an old-school bowl hesher from the 70's). I don't think it's cheating to use a grind plate, especially since I don't see waxing a ledge as cheating. BUT, I'll still never use a grind plate.

Here's the issue: If 2 dudes do a feeble on a chunky ledge (1 with a grind plate and 1 without), I'm gonna think the dude without a grind plate is more of a badass. What do you guys think? Is one dude more gnarlier than the other, or just the same? This is assuming that both riders can pull off the grind in a stylish manner.

  12. Am I the only one confused about how the filmer followed so smoothly in the first line? Dom did a double down the set and the filmer rode over it like nothing happened?

    1. Using inlineskates, I guess. Sunshine Distribution is also a inlineskates company.

  13. The filmer is on skates thats why it is so smooth.

The grind plate is not cheating, it just feels like a waxed ledge, even if the ledge isn't waxed.

Dom doesn't even use his grandplate anymore because he likes the sound of grinding metal. And also the team does do noseblunts and crooks. Like Hugo Svare is a gnarly shredder. Just wait, I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more great stuff from them.
