Envy Pro Scooters: Woodward 2012 Edit
Recently the whole Envy US Team got together for Woodward West 2012 and Brendon Smith came over from Australia along with Charles Padel who came from France. Sometimes I wonder what happens when you get a group of riders like the Envy Team together, and someone films it. I guess this is what happens. Just a really good blend of styles from all of the riders throwing down hammers non stop. The last clips were just ridiculous.

Cam Ward Fatal Clothing Day Video
Cam Ward recently got sponsored by Fatal Clothing. Cam is the first scooter rider that Fatal has approached with a sponsorship... well, kind of. Upon looking at Fatal's website, and seeing some of the Motocross guys they sponsor, I saw an OG who I haven't heard about in a long time, Dereck Beckering. The name might not be familiar to newer riders, but older riders definitely know about Dereck. Props to Cam for the sponsorship. Check out the day video below.

Finally got a scooter check from Zig Short. Zig rides quite a few different parts from a lot of different companies, so he definitely has a diverse scooter. Though if it's holding up to all the abuse he puts it through, they gotta be some pretty reliable parts. Check out Zig's scooter check below.

Cam Ward Throwaway
If you know Cam, you know that he makes all of his tricks look absolutely effortless. He does exactly that in this throwaway video with some clips from Woodward. Just casually boosting hips and quarters like it's no big deal. I'm interested to check out Cam's next real edit. I'd like to see him put some serious time into it, because when it comes to being an all around rider, Cam is up there with some of the best. Check out his throwaway below.

Kaleb Kier 10 Year Old Clips Edit
Kaleb's birthday is tomorrow. So he figured it's time to get rid of all of his older clips. Now since we happen to be right on top of a post with Paxton and Zig doing their thing on the mic, I figure it's time for people to hear Kaleb spit those hot bars! Haha. Kaleb opens this video with a flow that has some swagger. Do I see a battle between Paxton and Kaleb on the horizon?!! Definitely an up and coming rider, and at only 11 years old come tomorrow...he has a great future ahead of him.

Insight on ELYTS + Team DVD Preview
A lot of people are still kind of wondering what ELYTS is all about. We've seen shirts, we've seen tons of Team riders, and we've seen a lot of Zig breaking down what ELYTS is doing. Now it's time to check out some of the specs on the shoes.
Aside from the shoe preview, we also get to see a little bit of the ELYTS Team DVD. No release date has been dropped for that as far as I now. Check out the vid below.

Paxton Swygard vs Zig Short in a Rap Battle.
EDIT: It seems that the video has been privated. Contact Kody Geiger and tell him to unprivate it if you wanna see this.
I don't know whats worse: that Zig lost a rap battle to a small ginger boy or that he could barely even figure out how to hold the mic when he seems to deal with them every time he's featured in a video. Zig did seem to have it flowin towards the end there but he had way more time to prepare than Pax. I for one welcome our new ginger rapping overlord.

Cory Vanlew "Rolling Up" 2012 Edit
For the lil homies that read ISB. This video does have some marijuana use in it. If you aren't cool with that. You were warned, so don't complain about it in the comments.
Now for everyone else, if you don't know who Cory Vanlew is, I feel bad for you. Like really bad. For all of you who do, you know what this video is going to be all about. Style for miles, and bangers for days. Vanlew is an OG from way back who has never stopped killing it. He's picked up some legit sponsors recently, and all of it has helped mold him into an even better rider. This edit is really sick. One of the best I've seen in a long time. When it comes to riders having style, it seems like almost everyone is trying to immitate someone else. That's never been the case with Cory.
Props Cory. Doin it.

Cam Ward: February Edit
I am the only one disappointed in this? Yes it shows Cam doing a lot of really clean, technical tricks, but I know Cam is better than this. I haven't even seen the kid ride in person in nearly a year but his consistency is something that has always wow'd me (and helped him place well in competitions). All this video was was single quarterpipe tricks. Cam can do a lot more tricks on a lot more obstacles. I'm not sure why he chose to film just quarterpipe tricks (or why anyone other than Brendon Smith does) but at least they weren't nunchuck tricks.

Tilt Scooters Presents: Josh Young + Interview
Here it is. Joshua Casey Young has been working on this edit since November 2010. After criss-crossing the Midwest multiple times, and even venturing out to California, Josh finally had enough clips filmed to release this. Josh has been known as one of the best tech street riders for years now, and this video only solidifies that position. He worked super hard on this edit and I'm stoked to call him my friend. I asked him a few questions about the edit, and Tilt.
Jordan Jasa: So you finally got your edit out, after more than a year working on it. How does it feel?
Josh Young: Feels so crazy man, like this has been my life the past year. Like every weekend was just, where am I going, what spots am I going to hit. Every single weekend, it was either traveling around Michigan or going on a trip to Chicago or Columubs to get clips. Like I'm not kidding I bet I put 20,000 miles on my car just from traveling so much. But yeah it feels kinda good now that I'm starting over. I'm going to film something good for my blog, LIT so that should be done at the end of spring. Then prob a LIT montage with all the homies.
Gettin buck in the Kasson household. |
What's your favorite part about traveling and filming?
Just going to different cities and riding right downtown. Its so crazy pushing around downtown Chicago, LA, S.F any huge cities. Its super rad, not that many people get to travel all over like that. Traveling is the best, It seems like I'm always the one going to peoples house's for trips, but i guess its just becuase everybody thinks Michigan is whack or somethin haha. Best part about filming is busting out the old VX1000 and getting shit done right.
You've been involved with Tilt pretty much since the beginning. Can you explain how you got started with it?
My buddy Adonnis told me about Collin and how he wanted to start a company and I thought it was some whack kid having his dad make bars or something, but Collin called me and that was I'm guessing almost 3 years ago now. Collin has always rode, and was down for making dope ass parts so I helped him out as much as I could and got on Tilt and helped him put some of the raddest dudes in the street game on the team. I've been on from the beginning so its crazy to see how huge it is now. Its really sick.
How is it being on the team now?
Its good, like always we have the most high quality parts becuase Tilt actually makes the parts in the shop, so you know its going to be perfect if its getting sold to stores. No slacking. I'm always proud to tell people about Tilt and rep there parts. The team is so stacked now, I'm really hyped on all the dudes that are on. Just pretty much a whole street team. Plus I'm pretty close with everybody on the team.
Wallslap in Chicago. Photo by Dylan Kasson. |
What do you think the next year will bring for yourself and Tilt?
Trying to go on more team filming trips, get more photos for ads and shit. Hopefully gettin some fresh parts out. We got some sick SCS's coming out next month. Everybody who has seen them is super hyped on them. So watch out for those when they drop!!
That'll be good for now, if you wanna add anything go for it. Thanks brooo
Just wanna give a shoutout to Collin for always hooking me up, Tommy D for always hooking me up when I need it and giving me a place to stay whenever I go to Chicago, Dylan Kasson for showing me some of the best spots ever and giving me a place to stay when I'm in Ohio, All of my filmers, Jordan, Twhee, Stefan, The Lucky homies, the LIT crew, and anybody who has ever been hyped on what I'm doing!!

Ryan Upchurch + Joe Riley NJ Montage
Recently Blunt Pro Scooters rider and Team Manager, Ryan Upchurch took a trip to New Jersey with ShopECX rider, Joe Riley. Ryan's riding is as dialed as ever, and who doesn't love Joe Riley and how smooth he is. Good little edit. Hope to see them both drop some serious edits soon.

Montreux Scooter Contest 2012
You bet it's happening again. One of the biggest contests of the year, not just in Europe, but the world. All of the legends in the sport have been there, and this year I'm guessing it's going to be bigger than ever. I think it's safe to assume Dakota is going to be out there. Is there another 1st place on the way for the Machine? Only 2 months until we find out.

Matt Andrus Scooter Montage
Matt Andrus Scooter Montage from John Andrus on Vimeo.
Matt, if you don't know who he is, is one of scooter ridings most OG riders. Started at pretty much the beginning, rose to the top of the sport as he got sponsored by Micro, then pretty much fell off the face of the earth in 2007 (after the original Transit Scooter Tour). However, over the past year he's gotten back into it, was picked up by Scooterzone, and is shredding once again. Matt's brother Jon put together this montage of older clips of Matt for everyone. Matt's currently filming a new video, to be put out within the next month or two. Can't wait for that.

Hunter Bechtle Winter 2012
This winter has been a pretty big one for Hunter. After getting on Sacrifice Scooters, he was flown to Australia, and then just this past month he was flown to Barcelona for the street jam and to film. So this is the result of that- clips filmed literally throughout the world. Not too many people can claim that in scooters. Back lip double on that quarterpipe was so unexpected. A lot of what he does is pretty unexpected. I was hoping to see the 15 stair 360 whip that he won the street jam with but I guess we'll have to wait for the videos to come out to see it.

Brendon Smith Mini UK Tour + 2 Minutes with Envy's Mitch Baldry
Envy Pro Scooters rider Brendon Smith is known for being extremely consistent, and putting down edits full of 100% bangers. He plans on heading to Woodward in California this year as well, where you can bet your ass he is going to be adding a ton of new tricks to his already huge list. But before he heads to the US, he's hitting up The UK. The Mini tour has already kicked off, and he will be making quite a few stops before heading to Woodward.
Blunt Scooters, will be offering 50 free Skatepark entries to each of these stops to the first UK riders to email their details into uktour@bluntscooters.fr
Simply say your name, age and the stop you will be attending. Blunt Scooters will let you know if your in the top 50 where your name will be on a list at the door. For more information riders can hit up Blunt.Scooters.Europe.Facebook
I'm sure some crazy footage of Brendon will be surfacing from the UK Tour soon. For now though, you guys can check out Mitch Baldry in a quick 2 minute edit.

Black Momba??
Well.. this video was sent in by John Eron, and there was no description or anything. Just the video. As if the song wasn't awkward enough, the style of this little shredder only helped the experience I had watching this. He shreds, but definitely keeps it looking awkward haha. I mean look at that triple whip air haha. Sick video though, I hope we get to see another edit from this kid with some more work put into it.

Best of Luke Painter
Luke has definitely become one of my favorite riders to watch in the past couple years. He may not be the cleanest rider or have the most style, but he is definitely fun to watch. Sooo many combos and tech tricks. This video is made up of clips from as far back as 2005 to 2011. Honestly really glad this was almost 6 minutes long, the whole thing was good.

Thanks in big part to Aaron Bransdon, Kevin Austin, Jon Archer, and Jackson Manzie and the rest of the Friendly Crew, tech/street riding is growing really well in Australia. Below I got two up and comers in the scene, and they're off to a good start. In Jami's video, at the beginning, I totally put my hands on my knees after that knee slider haha. Check em out below.

Breaking News: Scooters In 2012 X-Games? ***UPDATE***
As you probably have seen by now, there is a plethora of buzz on the social networking sites over rumors of scooters getting into the X-Games. From what I can tell Scooter Hut is the first to break the news, without many (or any) details at all. I've yet to see any real details or even confirmation from X organizers. I do know that the ISA (governing body consisting of many of the sports companies) have been pushing to get scooters involved in the games.
But rest assured, if I hear anything new, I'll post it up here on Inside Scooters.
***UPDATE***
"Dear All, My name is Scott and I am the owner of Scooter Hut. We allow some of our staff to work as administrators on our Facebook page, which normally works well for us as a means to keep in touch with our customers and friends. Today, one of my staff overheard a private conversation regarding the involvement of scooters in the xGames and wrongly decided to make an announcement on our Facebook Page in relation to this before running it by me. There is no doubt scooters will be in the xGames at some point, but we have no "official" announcement as to when this will be, so I am sorry if we have given false hope of a 2012 inclusion. On a more positive note, I can confirm we have been in talks with Nitro Circus this week and as a result of these discussions, we will have at least two scooter riders performing in every show of this year's Nitro Circus Tour of Australia. One giant leap at a time for this beautiful sport :)"
What I can say is this. I am glad that Scott announced that. Also let me say that if there is any negotiations about Scootering in the XGames, I hope that Scott is the one doing the negotiating. I know him really well, and he knows what is good for the sport. Surely you guys remember Nitro Circus last year, which he is obviously doing again this year.
So yeah calm down people haha. False Alarm!

Tilt Scooters Presents: Tyler Wheeland
Tyler surprises me everytime he gets on a scooter. He's really come full circle as a rider, in the past three years. His wallrides are easily some of the best in the sport, if not the best, and you couldn't come close to his passion for Harry Potter. He's one of my closest friends I've made in the sport, and seeing him throwdown harder than he ever has in this edit below, really gets me stoked. Get ready to rape the replay button with this one.
Calling it now. Without a doubt one of my top three favorite videos of 2012.

Ro and Alejandro Capote
There's something really tight about brothers that ride together. Most of the time you got an older brother, and a younger brother. That is how it is with Ro and Alejandro, and many other "Brothers" in the sport. Capron and Cory Funk, Josh and Joe Kish, uhhhh.. *Insert other brothers here* Ro and Alejandro are from NY, so naturally they're holding it down in the streets a lot. While Ro is pretty obviously shutting it down, it's good to see that younger brother Alejandro is also on the come up. Check out older brother Ro, and younger brother Alejandro's latest edits below.
