Tyler Wheeland recently released this throwaway edit, which in my opinion has some stuff that I wouldn't consider throwaway. Tyler has come full circle as a rider, something a lot of riders don't do. Started at the bottom, and has worked hard to get to where he is today. I really like this edit.... yes 80% of that is due to the song.
Next up is Josh Young. Another rider who started from very humble beginnings. Wasn't very well known, and progressed pretty slowly early on. That changed quickly and Josh started to really come into his own. His style got better and better, and his riding got really clean. Easily one of the funnest riders to watch now a days. My close friend Helmeri has been making some big moves over in Finland, one of those being FinScooter Shop. With scene blowing up over there, (a huge reason for that is of course Helmeri) this is something that I think will really help the scene continue to grow over there.

And now a video featuring Helmeri that Otto Markjarvi filmed and edited in two weekends. It's pretty obvious after watching this, that Helmeri shreds extremely hard. In my opinion some of his best clips yet. I think with some riders who are labled with a "Sketchy" style, speed is the key ingredient to getting rid of that label. Helmeri really stepped it up here. Good stuff.

Mohamed recently parted ways with Phoenix, and has now found himself a place with French ID. French ID products, mainly the decks are making a big impact here in the US so far. Here are some clips of Bobby Pantano puttin it down for Bamboozle. This kid's tech just keeps getting better and better. Just needs to clean up some landings a lil bit/go a little faster and I'd be stoked. Bamboozle is putting together a full-length video of their team, I can't wait for that to drop.
This guy is so good at 360 combos. Surprising tricks all around this edit, definitely enjoyable.
Edit for Matt: I remember this kid from some videos a year or two ago. Even back then he had 360 combos dialed, I think I remember a 360 bar to whip down some little 4 stair or something. Seeing him start applying those combos in grinds is sick. Feeble 3 down heel rewind is ridiculous.
Derek is a park (can also ride street) rider that I really love watching, mainly because of his strong bmx style (He also rides BMX). I prefer watching Derek ride parks with a lot of tranny, cause he flows so well. In this Super 60 though, he focuses mainly on the box there. Some really good tricks in here, and keep an eye out for Derek's end of 2011 edit here on ISB soon.
This was good. Ryan really knows how to use his pegs well. Double peg to lips are so fun. That ditch spot looks pretty fun too. Everything in this video looks fun haha.

This is a really bizarre juxtaposition of riders, but I dig. Chris Hart, Rory Coe, Coedie Donovan, Cory Geisler, Maxime Legrand and Johann Moreau all went on a trip to some parks/street spots in Australia. Coedie and Maxime go so hard.
Issac aka "Izaak" aka "Gmill" has been one of my best riding friends ever since I met him two and a half years ago (which is pretty much when he started riding, amazingly). I try to push him super hard and while he doesn't always appreciate that, I think it shows in his videos and riding in general. You can still see that little kid sketch style at times but he has definitely been improving. Anyways we both worked hard on this video so I hope you enjoy it. Ginger4lyfe.
Here's another Lucky rider that released a video recently. Laurent is French rider for Lucky, and is a little tech killer. Those fakie tricks down the sets as well as the banger were so good. Song is a bit of a stretch but I enjoyed the video anyway haha. (Don't even pretend that I'm hating on this because of the previous comment.)
James certainly has ledge combos for days...there were some good tricks in there for sure (whip to bar river gap, last clip) but honestly I wasn't as stoked on James' part as I was Evan's. Nonetheless, James is a really good rider and definitely threw down.
Jordan is going to start getting back into riding, and is tossing out this footy and starting filming again. He has such a smooth style and when he wants to, can get really tech with some of his stuff. I hope we get to see the new edit from him sometime in the near future. For now check out some of his older clips he won't be using.
Danny has been around for a little bit...since 2000 actually. So, naturally, as there were very few other riders, he developed his own style. Today he is one of the most original riders in the sport. Check out his good throwaway clips, and get ready for his part in the Scooterzone DVD.
Just throwing out a reminder for everyone waiting for the 2nd LSP Opus part to drop. The first section dropped was from Evan Yamada, and it was jam packed with bangers. The second part dropping on Friday, features James Gee. I personally can't wait to see James's section. I know for a fact there is going to be plenty of ridiculousness in his section. You definitely should watch this. In a video filmed and edited by Tom Hoying, Dylan Kasson takes us through his experiences and views on scooter riding. Dylan is one of the most interesting characters in our sport, not only for his riding but the way he thinks, his opinions on everything. Josh Young said he "might be the most legit and hardest working street rider there is" on the LIT blog and that is not inaccurate at all. To Tom, if you're reading this, I'm really bummed you bailed on coming to Chicago with Dylan last weekend. Nice documentary anyway.

Recently Scooter Zone had the Hunt Jam at Hunt Park in Southern California. It was a really good time. Tons of riders came out and we all just chilled and had fun. A lot of the SZ Team was there, so they decided to have a big SCOOT Game. You can see the result of that below.
The kind folks over at Grit USA in Portland, Oregon, sent me not one but two complete scooters to look over and test out for em. If you aren’t familiar with Grit, they are a company that started out in Australia, that branched out to the UK and now have moved a branch to the US as well.
The first scooter I took a look at was the “Elite.” This one is the middle-priced scooter, at $200 USD on GritScootersUSA.com. Its marketed as one of the lightest scooters you can buy, and they aren’t lying.
The slaYer-esque bars come 18 wide by 21.5 high, probably the most neutral size you can get. They are definitely the lightest set of bars I’ve ever ridden. They come with an okay pair of grips, which are fairly soft but thin as well. It comes with a triple clamp which has worked great so far.
The headset is a normal unsealed threadless headset, pretty standard. It uses ICS and comes with a neat little wrench to tighten it. Along with that wrench are standard 5 mm allen keys to tighten the clamp and wheels. The threadless fork features the classic Inward style design, two square tubes with a gusset.
The Elite comes with 100mm metalcore wheels, and ABEC-9 bearings…super fast and super smooth.
The 4.0 inch wide deck is probably my favorite part of the scooter. Super light and fast to whip, flat sides, and grinds really smoothly. It also includes a pretty dialed flexfender. Downfalls are that the deck profile is too tall to grind with a peg on, and the bottom is pretty skinny (unstable on rails).
The other scooter sent to me was the Mayhem. This one is for more advanced riders, coming in at $250.00 USD. It has a definite weight and strength advantage over the Elite.
The bars on this one are pretty wild, as you can see in the picture. These are wider and shorter than the Elite bars, at 19 inches wide by 19.5 inches tall. The grips are the same as on the Elite.
The Mayhem comes with a semi-integrated headset which is pretty cool. On top of the headset is a quad clamp for a bit more strength to compress the bars. Speaking of compression, this scooter uses ICS, like the Elite. The forks are similar as well, if not the same, just with a different paintjob.
The wheels on this one are basically 110 versions of the Elite wheels, and come with ABEC-9 bearings as well…so they’re even faster than the Elites.
The deck is a slightly different design than the Elite. The 6061 heat treated aluminum deck has a more octagonal headtube for more strength. The bottom and sides are similar to the Elite, skinny and flat. Again there is a stainless steel flex brake, which is really solid.
Overall these scooters do feel pretty good. I definitely preferred the Elite for its taller handlebars and lighter weight. There are various little flaws that can be annoying (pegs don’t work on the back, semi-integrated headset, brake sits a little high) but for the beginner-intermediate rider or just someone on a budget looking for a dialed complete, these are great scooters.
Hunter Bechtle might have left Zero Gravity, but when you got talent you are bound to find another sponsor. Hunter is now riding for Sacrifice. I think we will be learning more about them soon. Hunter made this promo video for them, and it has some really good stuff in it. Check it out below.

So this is the first section released by Lucky Scooter Parts for Opus, and damn, what a way to start things off. Evan absolutely kills it. Brings it back to life. And kills it again. Filming an all street section is something some riders can pull off, and some can't. Well Evan definitely pulled it off, and then some. There is a perfect mix of tech and huge bangers. The amount of frontside and backside spins really kept things fresh. As for the banger... I think that alone speaks loads about the strength of LSP products, because not many scooters would hold up after something that huge. You want to click "Play" on the video below. Oh my. Big Ron has been a rail killer for years...lipslides, whips/heelwhips into, whips/heelwhips out of, just straight madness. This video shows him doin what he does best. Such a big lipslide at the end. Gotta love the swagbangs after every trick.
In the midst of all of this "Street vs Park" discussion in the previous posts, I think you guys should all take the time to remember that we're all on scooters, we're all riding, and trying to push the sport. We don't all gotta be riding a certain way to do that. Sometimes the kids on ISB gotta open their minds a little bit more, instead of thinking that riding has to be done a certain way, and everything else is garbage.
That being said, Ben Thomas in AUS recently finished up his latest edit. There are a lot of tricks that made me rewind the video. Most of them involving, a rewind, lol. He has some tricks in here that I don't think I've seen done before. Upgrade the camera gear, and this video would be intense. Check out the edit below.
Damn. So many riders these days have started to focus on one discipline of riding. Either street, or park, or flat, etc etc. Well Fuzion Pro Scooter's, Andrew Gilbert's latest edit really made me appreciate the riders that can ride both park and street. This is a really solid edit, and some of the stuff in here is pretty sick. Andrew recently had to get surgery, and will be out for the rest of this year...but I think judging from this video, he's gonna be going hard in 2012.
Oh no another grinding video =[ I hope you guys don't mind Josh's gangsta og triple og triple triple style. Tons of grind and manual combos. I could watch it for days. Check that fresh Tilt tee he's got on too, they're legit.
Kevin is one of those super quiet riders who goes hard whenever he steps on a scooter. He's often told to chill out, but with edits like this, who'd want him to?
Jarrod is without a doubt one of my favorite riders. Style for miles beyond miles. One of my favorite people to just chill with. He kills Hunt park in So Cal like no other, and flows that park ridiculously well as you will see in the clips after his scooter check. Check it out below.

Darren Westby is an up and coming street rider with a really simple and clean style. It's almost refreshing to watch a rider on the come up like this who isn't all about doing tons of combos. I stopped halfway through working on a paper to watch this, and I'm glad I did. This is footage from the past five months of Tom killing Seattle and Chicago spots. I had the pleasure of filming Tom when he came out to Chicago this summer and got really hyped on him. Last clip has gotta be one of the craziest things I've seen on a scooter.
Raymond Warner isn't just one of the top riders in the world, he's actually a pretty nice guy too! It's rare to see Raymond without a smile across his face. He is one of the guys who is truly having fun everytime he's on his scooter. You always know you're gonna have a good time when Raymonds around. He's been murdering the competition scene lately, and I recently had a chance to catch up with Raymond for an interview for Inside-Scooters. Check that out below.
Steven: RayRay, what is up dude? How have you been?
Raymond: I've been alright Steven. Just been working at the Zone and riding. How about yourself bud?
Steven: Ahh you know how it is. Working, getting stuff done for Dialed Issue 1 (Mmm Shameless plug) Now, For those who don't know.. Where you born, raised, and currently living?
Raymond: I was born in La Jolla, CA, raised in the streets of Murrieta, CA and still living here. Loving every minute of it!
Steven: Good, good. I'm basically going to get right into it man, I heard you recently signed with Phoenix? Tell me about that bro.
Raymond: Yeah I did. Being with Scooter Zone has been a huge blessing. Being able to work with James and everybody associated with the company has been nothing but a pleasure since the start. When Phoenix shot me an offer to be riding for them, I really didn't know what to say because of the deal I have with the Zone. I talked with James along with a couple of the riders and my dad about the whole situation and ended up going for it. So far, I'm glad I made the decision. Phoenix has provided me with decks already and they have taken good care of me and we are working on a signature deck as we speak. So be on the lookout for that!
Steven: Damn dude, a sig deck already in the works? Seems like a good deal to me haha. Tell me about the Reventon deck, I know you've been riding it for a while now. How do you feel about it?
Raymond: The Reventon deck is incredible. I've never been much of a street rider much at all, but with this deck I might give it a shot! The deck is basically the feel of grinding on a district deck, but with the strength of a Phoenix. I am riding the 4.65 x 20.5 right now, but also got a 4.25 x 19.5. I will be giving both of them a shot to see which is more comfortable for me so I can throw that size on my signature design.
Steven: Awesome dude. Raymond you're known as a park rider, but I know for a fact you can ride pretty much anything. Does it bother you to be known as only a park rider?
Raymond: It doesn't bother me at all. Don't get me wrong, I love riding riders like Monky, Nick Darger, and other guys that ride street, but I have always had more of a passion for watching riders get huge height and throw different tricks and doing so myself a lot more. But like I said earlier, I may be down to get some street blood in me. Wink wink.
Steven: Haha here’s hoping we get to see Ray use those 22’s in the streets! Ok so… How easy is it for you to flat triple. Just wondering haha.
Raymond: I do like to do a bunch of whips. But flat triples are first tee. Not trying to be cocky or anything. Haha
Steven: All right all right… On flat... 180 whip to fakie to 180 triple whip out. How many tries?
Raymond: 180 triples take a bit more. Maybe 3? Depends on what I have for breakfast that morning.
Steven: Oh the ever important breakfast which decides on the fate of the 180 triples, nicee. Back to park though.. You've been killing it extremely hard in the competition scene lately. What are your thoughts about competing?
Raymond: Competing to me is a huge part of the sport. They are really what brings more riders into our sport due to kids going to their local parks, seeing that they are closed, and just hanging around to check things out. In my opinion, we need more of them in different areas. Obviously the big contest like SD, XW, CooterCon, etc. are all important also, but having the Texas contest really brought a whole new breed of riders into the sport as well. That's what we need to do to expand.
Steven: Agreed. It seems like every contest you ride in, Dakota is also riding in. Do you guys get along?
Raymond: Yeah, we are definitely familiar with each other’s riding, that's for sure! But we have never really had any bad blood or anything like that. We've always been pretty cool with each other. Although, when we compete, we hate each other! That's the whole idea right?
Steven: Haha true competitive spirit right there. You were a long time Scooter Zone rider, and then broke away for a while to ride for MaddGear. You're now back riding with Scooter Zone. How has it felt being back with The Zone?
Raymond: Being back with Scooter Zone has been awesome. Sometimes, I think to myself that maybe going around to different sponsors and/or teams like I did, really wasn't such a bad move. It really showed me what I was looking for in the riding side of the sport. Now, I realize that Scooter Zone is definitely where I belong in the scootering community. I'm glad I'm back with the family. :]
Steven: And I speak for everyone at the Zone when I say we’re glad you’re back dude. Aside from riding for the Scooter Zone Pro Team, you also work at one of the Scooter Zone Shops, what's it like working every day in the shop?
Raymond: Ever since I started scootering, I wanted to make this sport my entire life. Being a manager at one of the shops has introduced me more into the business side of the sport. I am trying to learn more and more about how things operate in the sport because let's face it, I'm not going to be able to ride for much longer. I'm going to get old someday right?
Steven: Hmmm..50 year old Raymond still boosting, I can see it now… So dude, you got a back of tricks that seems to have no end... Where do you find the motivation to continue to progress and learn new stuff?
Raymond: My drive to continue to progress and learn new things is the support I get from my family, friends, and especially my fans. I don't know where I would be if I didn't have them. Being able to make my family proud is awesome, but at the same time I want to be able to make a difference in kids' lives as well by showing them that there's no limit to what they can do. That's really my main goal as a professional athlete.
Steven: That’s awesome bro. As 2011 comes to a close it brings a whole new year in 2012. We've both been in the sport for a long time, and we've seen it grow each year. Where do you see our sport going next year?
Raymond: Honestly, I think that 2012 will be one of the biggest years of our sport. I have a feeling that somebody is going to get a big sponsor from a well-known company like red bull, Nike, new era, or something along the lines of that. That would help the sport immensely in my mind. I don't think we'll be in any big contests like the Dew Tour or X Games this year beings that we're nowhere near big enough. But I don't think it's too far away. At least I hope not!
