CooterCon 8. One of the biggest turn outs for a CooterCon to date. Some of the best riders showed up ready to compete, and put on a great show. Not to mention the numerous Companies that sponsored the event, and showed up with their product tables for everyone to check out. With a showing like this, and with companies sponsoring this competition to make it what it was, and to give you guys prizes for the competition. Why then did I find out the next day that numerous companies had stuff stolen from their tables? Are you meaning to tell me that there are kids out there, that do not understand the fact that the only reason they are at that competition on that day, is because these companies decided to sponsor the event, and that without them there would be NO competitions at all? It would simply be a bunch of kids, riding in a skatepark. No prizes, no nothing. So to show your appreciation for these companies who dedicated their time and money to help YOU guys out, you steal from them? That is ridiculous on so many levels.
These companies are the only reason you guys have the scooters you ride on a daily basis. The parts you are riding, are what they spent their time and money to build...FOR YOU. They come to these competitions to MAKE SURE that you guys have prizes for the riding you do, to ensure that these competitions continue to happen. Now if you ask me, that should earn them a little bit of respect, don't you think? Atleast a little more than what was shown to them on Saturday. Honestly never really thought I would have to write something where I am a little bit ashamed to be a part of a sport that does something like that. All of this because a small amount of people at CooterCon out of the huge crowd there, thought it would be cool to steal some stuff. What those kids did, was give all of you a bad name. What makes you think these companies are going to continue to sponsor these events now? They don't have to. You think they're making money by sponsoring an event for you guys? Nope. They're losing money. They are DONATING parts and money so that you guys have a competition worth going to. Then you turn around and steal their stuff? With the amount of competitions that go on every year now, why would you all want to risk losing those? I don't understand it, and I'm pretty mad about it all.
Now I know there are people out there that will read this, that have information on who took what. Myself, and some other companies who had things taken from them are willing to compensate you in return for information on the stolen goods. All you need to do is send me an email. At "ItsStevenOhGod@live.com". Companies that had stuff stolen from them, were; PROTO, Inward, Lucky, and DSA. If you got information on any of this stuff, We ask that you step forward. Your name will remain anonymous. Thank you.

The day my brand new pro model+yaks+buffs that I won at the first XW comp were stolen at the first Brooklyn Banks Jam, I don't leave anything laying around unguarded. Thank god it wasn't my $2k+ camera that got stolen.
ReplyDeleteWe live in a real world. Of course I wish people had the decency to already know they shouldn't be stealing, but they don't. Im not saying the companies deserved what they got, by whatever circumstances the stuff got stolen, since i wasn't there.
I am assuming products were snatched when tables were left unattended. The sales person needs to be more responsible. You wouldn't leave your shop door open for the night when you went home after work, so why are you leaving your products unattended with a bunch of kids who see something they want, and will get it by all means, the correct way or not? Something is bound to go missing.
I light weight agree with you.
ReplyDeleteBut as a store..its your job to sell stuff. So naturally when you leave your Store unattended and people steal from you, you lose sales..and it is mostly your fault.
These companies came to Sponsor this event, and show off some new products. Which they have done at numerous other competitions without ever having this kind of result. They were doing all of those guys a favor by being there to make that competition what it was. It's more of a respect thing that I wish people in our sport had towards these companies who do what they do for the riders. They bring products there to support all of the riders at the competitions, and people turn around and steal from them? I can't blame the companies for that.
I know i know, but like as i was saying, its a real world, and people don't give a damn what you are there for, if they see an opportunity to get your product for free, they are going to take advantage of it. Some people were lucky to be raised by good people, and know that stealing is not right. Other were unfortunate, and are probably committing these acts. They don't have the respect for these companies that are molding our sport like we do.
ReplyDeleteIm just gonna stop there because theres 2 ends to the issue, and im milking the one on the flip side of yours. I would let this be a lesson, NOT A SCARE, for future events though. Companies need to be aware of their merch table. If you are going to leave it unattended for awhile, pack it up, and leave a note when you guys are goin to be back.
nah I agree with you Brian, there are def. two sides to this. We can only express our opinions so much. Fact is there will always be kids at these comps looking for stuff to steal. We can't change that. Companies and riders who attend these comps both need to take this as a lesson. Companies need to know that kids will steal their products if given the chance. Not saying all will, but it is apparent now that some will. As for the riders, take this as a lesson also. You guys might be able to get away with stealing some stuff. But keep it up, and these companies won't even show up to these comps anymore...and eventually these major comps like CooterCon, XW, TIC, and SD...will stop. Good luck stealing from them then.
ReplyDeleteohk well, these stupid idiots prolly stole when zig got hurt people were too focussed on zig and no one noticed people stealiing.....juss like steven saidd good jobs guys.....i can't even believe these people would steal from these small companies when the economy is low and it effects people....also the sales DO go down.. i suggest you guys either stop stealing or companies dont bring such valuable stuff to ccomps
ReplyDeleteAnd worst part of it is, is that products were stolen from the 4 biggest U.S. scooter companies in the industry. Thats so stupid. These companies are basically what made the sport what it is today. Wow...
ReplyDeleteb.t.w what was taken?
That's so retarded. I mean i get what Brian's saying about people not taking good care of there merchandise but at the same time it's like why? They are making the sport great and your going to steal from them? I'm just pissed.
ReplyDeleteI Serously Cannot Believe that... How can People be so Heartless...
ReplyDeleteduude, shit happens. some people need to get threw by stealing shit. some people trust the scooter community too much, im with bri n think it was when they tables were so overly protected.
ReplyDeleteShred Gnar
Cameron Ward got a complete Lucky deck with a bunch of parts, had just set it up and left it behind the DSA table by his bag, and it got jacked. Ali gave him an Ultra Pro. Felt bad cause he didn't have another setup. It may not be the scooter he won, which sucks, and we felt for him on that. But on top of that to hear what all got stolen. The kid and/or person who did this, is pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI'm going ot try to find out who took what. It is just rediculous that they are making the port look bad and stealing from such great people and companies.
ReplyDeleteIts all about respect, most riders have it.
ReplyDeleteBut some dont, therefore they couldnt care less about stealing, there just happy caus they got some sick parts. They dont care about how the sport progresses or gets publicised. All they care is that there happy now.
In a time when the sport is trying to get of the ground. some people just don't give a crap
ReplyDeletepeople are assholes.
ReplyDeleteThe vendors did not leave thier tables unattended. All of the product was stolen when many people were at thier tables examining their products. Vendors do know that stealinig is gong to happen and they take every precausion necessary to prevent stealing. We all enjoy picking up the products and checking them out, should the vendors stop this practice too. Anthony Cee was right, Cameron's scooter was stolen when Zig got hurt!
ReplyDeleteThat just pissed me right off. I despise theives.
ReplyDeleteWoah josh ali still rides? sickkkkk. But still gay that someone can buy a fresh new scooter at a comp and it to be taken away. I really hope those kids are found so they can get the crap beat out of them.
What do you expect with the sort of brats in this sport nowdays? They couldn't care less about the companies helping them out, they'd rather help themselves.
