Throwback Thursday: Stefan Hefner's Opus Part

When I first saw footage of Stefan, I instantly became a fan. He's an awesome rider, and an even cooler person. Back when Lucky was known for having some of the heaviest hitters in the street game, it was Stefan that got the most attention from their full length video, Opus. To this day his section is still golden. The combination of Tyler Wheeland's filming, and Stefan's riding is remarkable. Throw in a perfect song choice, and well done editing, and you have a classic. Check it out below if you haven't seen it before. Hell, even if you have, watch it again.

Throwback Thursday: Brooklyn Banks Jam 07

A Throwback this Thursday to a Jam that ended all too soon. The Brooklyn Banks are one of the most well known spots in the world in action sports. So everyone was stoked when some of the top riders in New York put together the idea of having a Brooklyn Banks Jam. The Jam was a complete success. This is from 2007, and the amount of OGs that made their way to the banks is amazing. I really wish these Jams could have kept happening, I could have easily seen the BB Jam being right up there with the Paris Street Jam. Enjoy this throwback.

Look out for clips from the one and only Stevon Wilson as well. He threw down the Front Bri, and the Tuckerdriver down the set. R.I.P Stevon.

Flashback Friday: Team Micro Pro Video

Yep, I forgot Throwback Thursday, so I'm making up for it with a Flashback Friday. Now would you believe me, if I told you, that at one time the following riders were all on the same team? Matt McKeen, Dan Barrett, Matt Andrus, Terry Price, Cary Mosbrucker, and even Pro BMXer Kevin Vannauker? Well they were, back when Micro put together their team almost 10 years ago.

Micro put together an all start dream team of riders from across the country, and Europe as well. Unfortunately, that was about all that happened. The Team was never utilized to its fullest. US riders started to wonder what being on the Team even meant. Eventually, they dispersed. Micro has since started up again, and is right back at it. And although we didn't see much from them back then, we still have this amazing Team Edit as a result. Matt Andrus's barspin whip combos, and Cary's air to boosted 270, still get me every time. A true classic.

Throwback Thursday: Brandon Kilbury BLT2 Section

Brandon has been around for over 10 years in the sport, and has proven himself as one of the most dialed riders time and time again. Brandon grew up in Vermont, and is most likely responsible for a lot of the scene there now. Arguably one of his best sections to date, came from BLT2. The whole thing was just amazing. The tricks he was doing, and as always, he was making them look effortless. This one will go down in history in my book, as always being one of my favorite sections to watch. Check it out below.

Throwback Thursday: Matt Ogle Final Sponsor Video

The below video is over 6 years old, and Matt Ogle is a true OG of the sport. He has such a unique take on riding, and to this day, he has stuck to his guns, and still rides with that same distinct style. Matt face some adversity when he first got into the sport, and took that criticism like a champ, and while he has improved on so many things, he still rides exactly the way he always has. This has been one of my favorite edits since it dropped, and if you haven't seen it, check it out now.

Throwback Thursday: Chris Gascoigne Web Edit

Arguably one of my favorite riders to touch a scooter. Chris has always been so stylish with his riding, that it was impossible to not appreciate how talented Chris was, and I haven't even gotten into his Supermans yet. Chris is a true OG of the sport, and one of the pioneers of the Southern California scene. He was an original member of the DXG crew, and today he is running Affinity, which is selling some of the highest quality bars on the market today. This edit has some extremely old clips, and youll be able to tell, by the stock bars, and pro model he's riding. But that doesn't affect his riding at all. Style and innovation all over this edit. It's been a pleasure to be able to call Chris a close friend, and to have ridden with him on many occasions. Check it out below.

Throwback Thursday: Matt McKeen Scooterology

It's over 8 years old, and it is still every bit as amazing as it was back in 07. Matt McKeen put the street scene in check when this video came out. You knew after watching this video, that he was going to be leading the pack for a very long time, and most people's eyes, he still does today. No tricks out custom scooters in this video, just OG razors.

Matt McKeen recently left long time sponsor, Addict. The details on why aren't known by many yet, but I think most people have a pretty good idea of where Matt might end up. For now, check out this classic below.

Throwback Thursday: PROTO Team Rider: Dylan Kasson

Talk about a throwback.. Dylan joined Proto over 6 years ago, and this video came out around 2009. It was a hit when it dropped, and it really opened peoples eyes when it came to Dylan's riding. I'm sure Dylan doesn't like this video, but I know a lot of people, including myself, still do. Now a days Dylan rides for Tilt, after making the hard decision to leave his sponsor of over 6 years, Proto. I'm interested to see how riding for Tilt will affect Dylan's riding. They apparently have a lot of new products coming out in the near future.

Throwback Thursday: Matt Andrus Sponsor Video

The year was 2005, we still bolted our folding mechs, and basically rode our scooters stock out of the box. A rider that had blasted onto the scene a few years earlier, was Matt Andrus, a BMXer who had found a new passion in Scooters. Matt is a true pioneer of our sport, and some of the tricks you will see in this video, are "World Firsts" as you guys call them today. We didn't bother with titles like that back then, a new trick, was just a new trick, and Matt did a lot of them. This video was highly praised when it released over 9 years ago for Matt's tech style, and crazy barspin combos. A true legend of the sport, and someone I am glad to say is a good friend of mine. Throwback Thursday: Coedie Donovan AUS 2 Section

If you've been in the sport as long as I have, you probably remember the time where it seemed like Coedie was untouchable. He blasted onto the scene, and immediately was doing tricks that people just hadn't thought of yet. He was going higher than anyone, and doing both in street and park. When this video dropped it was no different than any other Coedie video, full of tricks we hadn't seen before, and his unmistakable style.

I honestly still feel like Coedie is easily one of the best in the world. Even though we don't see edits from him too often, when they do come out, I still sit and watch em about ten times just like we all used to do years ago.

Throwback Thursday: John Radtke DXG Section

Most of you probably know John Radtke as the guy behind the Razor/Phase 2 dirt scooters.  Before he was into riding dirt scooters, he was into riding regular scooters.  While doing that, he became a pioneer with flip combos and nunchucking.  DXG was a crew/video that was in the making for such a long time, but most of this footage was shot in 2008/2009.  A lot of it is still enjoyable today, so, enjoy this.

Throwback Thursday: PROTO Team Rider Dylan Kasson

Having been in the sport as long as I have, I've had the privilege of seeing some riders who were just starting out, and are now some of the best in the world. Dylan is one of those riders, and his start was no easy one. He faced a lot of adversity over his opinions and thoughts on the sport and the riders in it, and in his early years his riding was nothing to marvel over. That all seemed to change really fast though. It almost felt like Dylan was feeding off the people bashing him, and just started progressing crazily. For me, it was this edit that came out around 4 years ago where I just couldn't ignore Dylan's skill anymore. I still enjoy watching this edit from time to time.

Throwback Thursday: Tyler Wheeland, While I have it

Tyler Wheeland might not be regarded by most as one of the top riders in the sport, but he is full of talent. Yeah you see him in the streets now a days, more than often riding on walls, as opposed to the ground. But he can still shred parks up with no problem. This edit was filmed when Tyler was 17, by his buddy Stephen Diaz, who did a hell of a job. It's one of my favorite edits not because of the riding, but because of what the video stands for. Check it out.

Throwback Thursday: Tyler Bonner Mini Vi 1

Six years ago, Tyler Bonner wasn't the rider he is today. But if you had half a brain, you could tell he was going to go somewhere in the sport. He wasn't the biggest dude out there, but he could shred like nobodies business, and it didn't take long for everyone to realize that. He was a total package, and it seemed like he had no weaknesses in his riding, and he just kept getting better and better. Even today, Tyler progresses at a ridiculous rate. Sit back and enjoy a mini video that I still enjoy watching to this day.

Throwback Thursday: Addison Mini Video

Before Addison McNaughton became known as one of the pioneers of street riding, before whipping the berg, and long before Urban Artt, Addison was just a young kid shredding the Nor Cal streets. When this video originally dropped in the early 2000s everyone noticed Addison. He wasn't following any trends and he was killing it in the streets. One of my favorite videos, from one of my favorite riders. Definitely check this one out kids.

Throwback Thursday: Ladam July Day Edit by Nickehfilms

It was back in 2009 that this video dropped, and everyone got a rude awakening about just how smooth someones style can be. You remembered so many things about this video, that one hander to late barspin air, his airs in general, and of course his hair, and that damn iPod headphone that he kept in his mouth. Adam "Ladam" Bolton, has been a bit on and off in the sport lately. Most people remember that once he was off MaddGear he started to slowly fade away. Although, I just got word from Nickeh that he is going to be filming a new edit of Adam, and I am stoked.

Throwback Thursday: CSC Once Again Preview

If you're an OG rider, you remember this video very well. It's the CSC Once Again Preview. CSC stood for the Corona Scooter Crew from Corona, California. The crew consisted of Mikey Weaver, Mike Dies, Danny Rambert, and Cody Speake. Newer riders might recognize two of those names, those being Danny and Cody, but the two Mikes are known only to the older generation of riders.

When CSC hit the scene in around 05-06 they quickly got the sports attention. Four unknown dudes, dropping edits that made everyone else look like they amateur in comparison. These dudes had it all, style, skills, and of course, Old YAK wheels. We all pretty much had Mike Dies, and the CSC guys for starting the Old YAK craze. The preview below was for a video that would never see the light of day, but it lives on in the preview which has become a classic among OG riders. Enjoy it, and definitely watch some newer edits of Cody Speake and Danny Rambert, stoked that these guys are back in the sport and killing harder than ever.

Throwback Thursday Steven Sanchez Sponsor Vid

You guys might recognize Sanchez because he spent some time on the Proto Team, but I was a fan of Sanchez far before that. Sanchez has some of the best style on and off a scooter I've seen to date. He just makes whatever he's doing on his scooter look damn good. For a long time this edit below was made so it couldn't be embedded on a website, now that it is, I'm definitely posting. Sanchez doesn't ride much anymore to my knowledge, but he drops in on ISB every once in a while. So whatt up Sancheezmo.

Throwback Thursday: Nick Darger 951 DVD Part

Back in 2009 the 951 Crew made one of the first DVDs in our sport, The 951 DVD. Some of the riders featured were, Nick Donatelli, Monky, Jarrod Bruns, Raymond Warner, and more. The DVD itself was great for its time, and a lot of the clips can still hold up today with ease. Overall my favorite section was Nick Darger. Nick has always been an all around rider with skills in park and street, which is apparent even back then. And of course who can forget the infamous battle with the double tailwhip at the end. Throwback Thursday: Hep Greg Mini One

When this video dropped some 4 years ago, I was amazed at just how much attention it got. At that time all we really had was Scooter Resource, and I remember this video getting pages and pages of feedback, almost all positive. There were no backflips, no ridiculous trick combos, or huge gaps. It was just smooth and stylish riding, and it worked so well. Greg Cohen, better known as Hep Greg, has always been an individual, both on and off of his scooter. This video was his first real mini video, and to me it is an instant classic. Since then Greg has dropped numerous edits, each getting better and better, but I will always remember that it started with this one.
