Instead, perhaps the discussion should be directed toward an issue that could actually affect the industry: the rise and ramifications of webisodes and the lifestyle/attitudes/behavior they promote. Also, this guy. If anyone would like me to explain further, drop a comment and let me know and we'll get a real conversation going.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT
Can we just stop talking about SMX already? There’s so much misinformation spreading on a subject that will ultimately NOT AFFECT YOU IN ANY WAY. I’m not going to add anything else other than please stop bringing this up because there isn’t anything new to say any more; ya’ll are beating this horse to a bloody pulp. It'd be cool to see actual scootering in my social media feeds again.

I like the conversation you are making out of this smx fiasco. I'd like to start and say that I definitely had smx in my bio at one point. I changed it back to scootering because I realized by making it smx I was only hiding/running away from the thing I actually took part in. Parts of that is the insecurity I have because of just general treatment from the rest of the action sports community and people at my school. In regards to representation in the industry I don't see any one person as representive of the entirity of scootering. If you look at skateboarding or bmx, you'll see an Andy Schrock or a Harry Main. Vloggers in action sports is not a new concept. If anything I think they help the global exposure of an action sport. Everyone is different and what scootering is to them will be and is different than yours or my perception. I think the conversation should be pushing forward to making a nicer and kinder community. Having an open and accepting attitude towards each other and our own work will make it more inviting for others to join our community. At the end of the day you can only be responsible for your own work and contribution to our community. Anyone who is serious about scootering will have to diversify to mature. One rider might get someone into scootering but it takes the entirety of everyone in scootering together to keep someone in scootering.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jordan on this one, but on the other side of all the SMX talk, there are other riders out there that have not been seen yet that have dope tricks and videos.
ReplyDeletewhat does that have to do with the smx arguement
DeleteSMX is a failure. The webisodes and all that can be both good and bad I think. Good because it gets more people to recognize and understand our passion, but bad if the people doing these vlogs get more concerned about making themselves "famous" and start doing stupid shit to gain more views. Claudius is a good example. I'm almost 100% positive he has some kind of condition though, so I won't give him too much shit.
ReplyDeleteClaudius is a joke lol
ReplyDeleteThis kid is the human form of cancer in scootering
ReplyDeleteYou know somethings up when that kid posts a "twerking" video. He takes hungry for views to a new level. Who gives a shit if he seriously has something wrong with him, hes fucking stupid. He is the perfect example on why scooters get a bad rep. I dont want to get sucked into this internet shit but hey, I had to say somthin bout claudius. The smx thing is tearing the community apart in a way. People need to just chill out, shut up, and ride their damn scooters.
ReplyDeleteAmen Jordan. I simply came in to try to be a mediator to say the same thing as you. Who cares, its gotten out of hand.
ReplyDeleteKind of sucks that webisodes are getting more exposure than the gnarliest video parts. Makes scooter riders look like pussies, but at the same time, the core is growing and ultimately I think we have nothing to worry about.
Hateful discussions lead to the sports destruction. Let everyone be themselves and do their own thing. We are still gunna be out there showing the world who we really are regardless!
Thanks
Thanks Jordan, that IG page ruined my life. He commented a video of mine 3 years ago saying "you need to improve yourself, and dont stay on the low level". It was a throwaway iphone edit....
ReplyDeleteif somehow changing a name to get our sport to be recgonize and to get riders WHO deserve to get paid like Jasa. then im chill with it and the webisodes like tfox or funk bros. thats what they wanna do and no one is gonna stop them from that so move on .
ReplyDeleteNo one like claud would be seen by the wider community in bmx / skate WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
ReplyDeleteBest Inside post 2k16
