This is sick. In case you didn't know Nitro Circus has been posting videos from the most recent tour mostly featuring highlights, but this one focuses directly on the scooter riders on the tour, Ryan Williams and Mitch Baldry. A few of the other guys talk about how much they were impressed by Ryan and Mitch and there's a bunch of footage of them doing wild tricks. Watch it.
Probably going to catch heat for this, but I don't really care..
But Ryan and Mitch are two of my friends, and same for all the other scooter riders that took part in the Nitro Circus "Show". And I know it's all fun and games, but Scooters being on there, while it was great for our sport. They basically make fun of the sport to the crowd the entire time the guys are riding, and even after seeing Ryan, Mitch, Andrew, BK, and more break themselves, still struggle to give them props.
Seem weak to me. Hard for me to imagine someone like Andrew, even though I'm sure he knows it's "all part of the show" just sitting back on deck of the mega, listening to the announcers bash and talk shit on scooters as he's dropping in about to risk life and limb.
Still stoked to see all of them shredding on such a large scale though.
I agree completey. Basically if you dont ride motocross or bmx.. or even a wheelchair. You wont get treated with much respect during the show. rollerbladers during the show were even called "gay" and the things they say about scooter riders weren't any better.
trust me I was at one of the shows in Aus. It was sick to see the guys riding, but also made me feel somewhat worse about my sport in a way too
I was in the green room after one of the Australian shows, and everyone was congratulating / genuinely giving Mitch and Ryan props. I know it's hard to watch our sport be called gay and childish, but for the moment that's how our sport is viewed, and until we're in enough big scale events that showcase scooters as something adult, we'll get the same treatment.
I watched some videos on youtube just now of scooters at Nitro. They do definitely talk shit about them the whole time, I get that its for fun and part of the show, but still ..atleast have a limit and know when to shut the fuck up. Give them some respect
Wheels is a crippled fuck...I wanna see him do the trick "walk". I wouldn't expect him to talk shit, but I guess he's a jealous bastard because they have working legs.
Most pro riders are in the world aren't even 20. How do you want them to give us props then ? Ryan and Mitch are like only 18 or something compared to the other guys on the show ( apart from wheels ). Let's see in five years when most pro riders will reach an age closed to 25, at this moment more people will look at the big picture ;)
To be honest JD, I got a feeling that if we had older riders up there (and keep in mind Andrew and BK are not 18-) They would have had something else to make fun of us about, that there are 21+ people still riding scooters.
Thats stupid.. age has nothing to do with it. If they had a 15 year old motocross kid up there doing backflips, they would talk about him like hes god. Same for if they had a young BMX kid up there..
Theyre not dissing Ryan and Mitch cause theyre "18" its because theyre on scooters. Do you hear the announcers going "Man look at these underrage kids on these things" No. They talk direct shit ABOUT SCOOTERS. Putting someone older on a scooter only gives them more reasons to talk shit. Steven is right about that one.
Man try to be realistic a lil bit. People see scootering through What they see at their local park, which means mostly young 10 year old kids , just think about it. It wouldn't be the case if they were talking to 25 year old people with arguments and all that you know. The same happened with BMX riders whether you believe or not, but as soon as they started getting older being more mature, it turned out to be another story and it will be the same thing with scootering hopefully.
And Steven even if they had shit to say about us we would still have stronger stuff to say againt what they think of us. As far as Scootering is concerned, we will always be smarter than them ;)
Yea its hard for us to get respect becasue we ride scooters, look if some person on a scooter falls hard, no bmxer helps them becasue no matter what happens, were considered imature and gay. its really stupid and honestly well never get the respect we deserve as long as little kids ride and snake people at the skatepark
Scooters are the same as when people started to snowboard and the skiers said the same things to the snowboarders. Go to the slopes now, not so many skiers anymore. Time will tell!
The whole "Who wants to see scooter riders get hurt" Thing is all for show, I was fine with it. Bruce the announcer came up to me and said "Dude what you guys do is crazy! I respect you guys" We gained so much respect from everyone there. Cam Sincair even asked me for a scooter. Its a whole different story with these guys when your spending so much time with them.
At this point I don't know if hearing this makes it better or worse, that they still make fun of you guys whenever they're on camera... but are cool and "respect" you guys off camera...
once scooter riding gets the exposure that other actions sports have we will get the respect that the sport deserves. people just havent seen actual scooter riding. all they have seen is young kids at their local park doing flyout all day. its all a matter of time like it was for the other action sports. surfers gave skaters shit when kids started skating and skiers gave snowboarders shit when they first hit the slopes. its almost like we are getting hazed.
Where is the best place to get active coupon codes for kick scooters? My twins are turning 8 next month and I need to get them off the couch and out of the house!! :) Kids scooter

I think everybody should stop caring about other peoples approval and just ride.
ReplyDeleteI think someone needs to learn the difference between the words "Approval" and "Respect".
Deletewho cares what people think and ride your scooter
