You guys can find Part 1 a little bit below this post, but here is Part 2 for all that were waiting for it. Really love these videos, and I see nothing but good things happening constantly for Boxes. Sky is the limit for this company, and its riders. Love the questions asked in this one as well, and Dylan's answers were pretty spot on. I find myself really interested in hearing riders opinions on some of the stuff that was asked in here.

ReplyDeletePeople need to wake up and stop lying to themselves by denying that their own sport might be going to the wrong direction because of them.
you "Rider Owned" people make no fucking sense... "i really don't like where the industry is going" in one breath with no explanation why.. and the next statement say "oh yea scootering has just taken off". Inline doesn't exist anymore because of the exact mentality that the "Rider Owned" crew has.. Rider owned means BROKE,and UNORGANIZED. Fact is you Rider Owned people should be thankful for all the NON rider owned companies out there or you guys would be in the park getting made fun of on your razor pro model. Phoenix, Madd, Lucky,and other non rider owned companies have legitimized your sport. In Fact the very people that post your videos for the world to see is mostly supported by companies that are not rider owned.. So serious.. get on the wave and quit bitching and scooter while you still are relative.

ReplyDeleteIf Inline doesn't exist anymore it is because the rider owned companies couldn't follow the market since those other companies with money were in the front, which killed the spirit of the sport. Money makes people dumb, people like Stephane Alfano whos always acting stupid in comp day which gives a bad image of the sport, which makes you think that sport is just full of dumb people, which makes you not want to work with them and that's some of the reasons why you don't get to see inline as we used to. Today with the scooter industry, brands only think of only selling parts, not necessarily give a more mature image of what scootering is really about. And that's why we still got little dumb kids riding scooters. And people ( when I say people i mean HUGE events like FISE or DEW TOUR, and BIG brands like Etnies or Vans, RedBull Monster ) don't wanna have to deal with little kids. But you have to be behind the scene or close to those behind them like Dylan to really understand what he is really talking about.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Mr Anonymous, Guess what ? Skateboard died 2 times in history, guess thanks to what skateboarding reborn again ? RIDER OWNED COMPANIES. and guess why it had creashed 2 times ? Well because of those who weren't.
Inline died because the OG group tried to keep it to their select group.. They hated little kids and big companies. They inlined until they got families and grew up and the sport died..

Lets learn from the mistakes they made.
If the story you tellin is right ( evenif I know that you are not telling everything about how it REALLY crashed coz it was certainely not due to that or to that only for sure ) , well here is what I think and to my opinion what a lot of people should think of : Skateboard, BMX and Inline at a certain point died. 2 of these sports out of 3 survived survived thanks to the little rider owned companies who stayed in the game despite the crash ( COZ THEY WERE RIDERS WHICH MEANS PASSIONATED ) on which those who were still in the sport after these crashes put their faith on so that they can grow and so that more and more companies like that can be born the same way and grow the same way.

last post.. When did Skateboarding die? or BMX.. What Rider owned companies SAVED the industries? Skateboarding and BMX has done nothing but grown since XGAMES 1.

ReplyDeleteThe people who own scooter companies that actually want to further the sport are those who actually ride, as they know how it is to ride a scooter. Many of the other people just want money. The sport does not need to blow up as fast as possible, that will just blow it out, like inline. It would be much better to have rider owned companies helping the sport grow at a normal pace in a good direction instead of making bad products to cash in on the soon to be "last big fad".
Steven, you should make it so that people can't post anonymously on this site so that we can see who has all these brilliant opinions. It would surprise me if they are actually a part of the sport, and if it turns out they are (or think they are), I suggest they get the Hell out.

Anon above...the people in that video are some of the sport's most dedicated riders...seriously look who you're talking about. Dylan obviously, this guy is pretty much the biggest influence for street riders, without him Catalyst wouldn't have come out, and he does things according to morals most kids have never even thought about. There's Tommy Daddono, who started one of the most successful rider-owned retail companies, Sky High Scooters. Josh Young, owner of the Lit blog (the best and only alternative to Inside) as well as one of the sports only legitimate filmers. As well as myself...I hope I don't need to tell you that I'm the one who started this circus known as Inside Scooters.
ReplyDeleteMy point is that these riders are the ones who have a real love for the sport, and thus will do things with the best intentions to progress the sport positively. A scooterdad just looking to cash in isn't going to do that, and never will be able to because they don't "get it."
Passion for the sport no one would ever argue. Their contributions no one would ever argue. Get what? That's the million dollar question that no one can answer. All you guys are non profit? the answer is both parties working together sooner than later..
